Are you wearing gel-pad gloves? If not, I got two pair for Christmas. I would be willing to share. Also, the owner of Paradise Bikes suggested rotating your hands up and around the handles so that whatever weight is there is on the thumb and upper part of the hand. Seems to work although it is a hard position to get used to.
Sounds like a plan. Slow and easy does it. That has worked for me. And then add more exercise to that. Lot's of bike riding pays off. You burn more calories riding your bicycle than jogging. Than just about any other kind of exercise.
