I'll be participating in the 8 week 2012 Spring 5% challenge that starts March 17. My goal will be to get my weight under 130. This should be pretty close to 5% and a nice even number.

Well the Go St. Louis Marathon was a No Go. They closed the 9.5 mile turn off for the Full at 9:05 am due to excessive heat. That was pretty much right in front of me. So I'm going to try again. Running the Nashville Country Music Marathon on April 30th.

So I'm going to try to run a MARATHON, will run/walk it.
I'm much less definite about this than in the past, because right now I'm in such a good place. I've done 8 half marathons and now I'm totally pain free and feel pretty comfortable with a run of up to 15 miles. Am I tempting fate. I've registered for the Go St. Louis Marathon on April 10th. I wanted something local, because it's easier and cheaper.

So here's my long run plan. I'm moving up more slowly than many people, because I'm already at 15 miles and not doing the Marathon until April. I'm using Jeff Galloways run/walk program

Trying t o refocus again. Even though I wandered away from Spark for a while I did not forget all I learned. I've got some pretty good exercise habits. I did walk the St. Charles, MO Lewis and Clark Half Marathon (shortened to 10 miles due to Tropical Depression Ike) and the St. Louis Track Club Half Fall of '08. I still need to work on eating. How does one track food when cooking for three kids 11, 14, and 16. I prepare so much food and measuring what goes into each recipe and then calculating calories and serving size is daunting.

Got a little side tracked this summer, but back to refocus. Did not lose any weight, but did not gain any. Kept walking and did a 6 day 5 night wilderness canoe trip. Planning on walking the St. Charles, Mo Half Marathon in Sept.

March 17, 2008
Joined the Virtual Walk to meet another Sparker Team. I'm walking to Boise ID from Manchester, MO. Total distance 1603 miles. This is my its a long term thing commitment. To help get those miles I'll be walking the dog at least 1 mile on each of his three walks. I'll do several long walks a week, use MayMyWalk.com to calculate distance in the neighborhood. I'll do Leslie Sansone videos to get in distance when the weather is bad. Weekly goal 30 miles a week .

I'm a 46 year old homeschooling mom of three kids, 15, 13 and 10. I'm working towards a more healthy lifestyle. I like to hike and hope to lose weight so I can be a little lighter as I hike up those hills.
I am starting with a commitment to 45 minutes a day of cardio. This will be in one or two sessions. A mix of outdoor walking and Leslie Sansone Walk at home videos.

My Program:
run/ walk 3 times a week
using Jeff Galloway's walk run method. I usually have a race on my calendar
Involved with the St. Louis Rowing Club, practices 4 times a week
Long weekend family bike ride and yoga


Other Information:
Love to garden and eat fresh my vegetables from the garden. Love hiking and visiting National Parks. Would like to get back to bicycling and maybe do some touring.

Walked two half marathons in Fall of 08

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm trying not to beat myself up for not running much. Now that the foot is healed, I'm waiting for the new orthotics. Running without them is different, after four years of running with.

I definitely wear less to run now, although as I recall, I was regretting the sleeves by the end of that race. It started colder but was in the upper 60's by the end and as you can see, it was sunny. I would have died in that shirt now. It is heavy and too much for me now even when it's cold. I haven't worn it for several years.
