This journey is going to be the longest one I have ever taken. It is amazing how the weight always manages to come creeping back on when I am not looking.

I want to say that since I have joined Spark People I really feel a sense of kinship with the people here. Even though we all have different reasons for doing Sparks we all have one goal, and that is to improve ourselves in some way. The different forums are a great way to find others with similar interests.

I have been active with SparkPeople this time for about 6 months. In that time I have lost 30 pounds and gained a whole bunch of confidence. Enough confidence that this year I have become more active. I participated in my first ever 5k as a walker. I also have been biking on the trails around here many times. Now I am ready to take on the big one. Cross country skiing!!! I can't wait to try this and benefit from the workout.

I live in snow country, so this should be something for me to try. I can practically step out my back door to a trail. I can definitely step out to lots of snow.lol

Fitness Minutes: 11,384

My Goals:
Currently I want to get in shape and lose enough weight to be happy and healthy. I am trying new things for fitness fun. This Winter I will be trying Cross country skiing. Woo hoo!!! I went biking several times this last Summer and plan on continuing this routine.

Starting Weight: 225 in 2009. I decided to lose 10% at a time. This has been really successful for me so far. Not having to focus on all the weight at once.

Currently 193- 9/11/2011

Next goal: 178 (this will take me out of the official "obese" category).

Then on to 160:

Final goal: 144 (this is still up for consideration. I may go down more.

My Program:
I am trying to walk as much as possible right now. The weather will be changing soon, so I am going to try to modify my routine this year. I have snow shoes and spikes for my shoes. I am hoping to get out more with these advantages. I have the "dreadmill" for those days when getting outside will be impossible.

Strength training is another important aspect to my program. Currently I want to get my weight out of the obese category. I am just 14 pounds away from that.




Personal Information:
I am a green lovin', tree hugging, granola. I cast my vote for God's Kingdom to take place on Earth with my own public declaration in 1982. I am confident that He will come and destroy all of the wicked people who are destroying the Earth very soon. I am married to my second husband for 4 years now. I also have two adult children from my first marriage. We have 2 dogs of questionable lineage. :)


Other Information:
I enjoy reading, crocheting, walking, hiking, biking, and (hopefully) xc skiing. We will find out this Winter.
