My Goals:
Long Term Goals:

Keep my A1c levels in normal range

Lose approximately 90 pounds

Lower cholesterol to normal levels

Lower blood pressure to normal

Short Term Goals:

Lose 4 pounds a month

Control A1c through diet and exercise for next lab report in July 2015

Show reduction in blood pressure by doctor's appointment in July 2015

Show reduction i n cholesterol level by July 2015

My Program:
Summer 5% Challenge

Exercise Commitment:
Cardio exercise 60 minutes 7 days a week by walking, Spark DVDs, Wii Fit Plus

Strength train 3 times a week using resistance band and dumbbells

Nutrition Commitment:
Spark People Diabetic Meal Plan Option on the Nutrition Tracker. I like the substitution options.

I have found several recipes to try. I like to try at least one a week.

I will plan my meals for the week and then make my list. I will print my daily plans from the tracker for each day

I only shop after I have eaten.
My food will be ready!

Motivation:
I can lose 5%.
I can lower my cholesterol.
I can lower my glucose readings.
I can improve my blood pressure.
I can keep up with my grandchildren.
I can bend over farther.
I can make healthy food choices.
I can fit into my jeans easier.
I can feel proud of my accomp

Personal Information:
I am a retired teacher who 4 years ago was referred to an endocrinologist. We have discovered that my high blood pressure, high cholesterol, inability to lose weight and significant hair loss on the top of my head are due to Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia. This means I have enlarged adrenal glands which release too much of a variety of hormones. I am insulin resistant. I am now on Metformin and we are working to find the right dosage. My hair is growing back and my blood pressure is down. I now have hope of losing this weight for the first time in 15 years. I would get down to around 205 and nothing would happen. The trainers I worked with over those years were stumped. But I have renewed hope and commitment.

Other Information:
I am married with a very supportive husband, 2 grown sons, the best daughter-in-law ever and 2 grandchildren - Luke, 2, and Josie, 1. I need energy and the ability and flexibility to keep up with them.
