I am person who is very happy with life but unhappy with losing the ability to move around better as I age. I have a supportive family who has helped me while my doctor and I have discovered the roadblocks and how I can now overcome them. Looking forward to achieving my goals.

My Goals:
Long Term Goals:

Keep my A1c levels in normal range

Lose approximately 70 pounds

Lower cholesterol to normal levels - Done August 2016

Short Term Goals:

Lose 4 pounds a month

Control A1c through diet and exercise for next lab report in October 2016

Show reduction in blood pressure by doctor's appointment in October 2016

Show reduction in cholesterol level - Done

My Program:

Exercise Commitment:
Cardio 6 times a week - 30-60 minutes
Strength train 3 times a week
Core workout - 2 times a week
Gentle stretching in the morning and a 15 minute stretching session in the evening.

Nutrition Commitment:
Spark People Diabetic Meal Plan Option on the Nutrition Tracker. I like the substitution options.

I will plan my meals for the week and then make my list.


I can lower my cholesterol.
I can lower my glucose readings.
I can keep up with my grandchildren.
I can travel easier.
I can bend over farther.
I can get out of a chair easier.
I can make healthy food choices.
I can fit into my jeans easier.
I can feel proud of my accomplishments.

Personal Information:
I am a retired educator. I enjoy being with family, traveling, getting outdoors, geocaching, reading, playing games and puzzles. I have a supportive husband, 2 fantastic boys, the best daughter-in-law and 2 adorable grandchildren ages 3 and 18 months.

    Just wanted to say hi and thank you for your encouraging words on my blogs. I can't comment to everyone, as I have many followers and friends on Spark (a truly unexpected blessing, as I'm not really all that social IRL for sure!), but you are always kind to comment and encouraging in your remarks and thank you! I WILL get back on track. Knowing is more than half the battle. I WILL see that 148 soon, and I will spend the remainder of my days, as long as I can, staying within a healthy cushion after I reach that finish line - or really-just-beginning line, as it were.
