My first goal was to run a 5k, I have now run 15... I have also run 4 5 Milers, 5 10Ks, 4 10 Milers, 6 Half Marathons, the Walt Disney World Marathon in January 2011, and the Chicago Marathon in October 2011! I will run marathon number 3 - the St Jude Marathon in Memphis - on 12/1/12. My goal was to finish at Disney, I had a goal in my head to break 5 and a half hours - I ran the marathon in 5 hours 22 minutes and 7 seconds! It was the most amazing experience I think I have ever had. ...

I want to have kids someday, but I want to be in shape before I try doing that... SparkPeople helped me to lose 30 pounds in a year, I am very happy with my weight now - when I started I would have never guessed I would be saying that... I would have also never thought I would say the words - I run marathons... This site has been amazing in helping me, I don't know what I would have done without it...

Hi!!! I live in Collierville and was just searching Spark for some nearby members! Way to go on your success!! I have discovered, after years of avoiding running, that I LOVE IT! I just have to get back on my treadmill and make it happen! Way to go on your goals!!! You are an inspiration! emoticon

Thanks for your comment on my blog! Yeah, if you have prescription orthotics, your podiatrist can definitely adjust them to alleviate knee pain. You have to get it just right, but it can really help, especially if you're wearing the orthotics due to past injuries. I never had a foot injury, which is why I wanted to wean myself back off the orthotics. :) Good luck!

I noticed you post on the c25k thread.
Good Job! I commend you for running a race! You are at least off the couch right? That's how I feel. You really improved those times!!!

I will be running my 2nd 5k on April 24th and my time to beat is 35:10...

I've had terrible problems with my shin splints (especially during the first race) and have been working on stretches and got some new inserts with arch supports.

I'm hoping to do well. Great job on completing your 5k!! It is such a wonderful experience and a great sense of accomplishment! Be proud.
