My name is Jerry and I am 52 years old. I live approximately 85 miles south of St. Louis, Missouri. I retired from teaching 29 years of High School Business in May, 2010. I live on a farm with my wife, Carla, and raise Angus cattle. I have two daughters, ages 22 and 25. My wife and I also have two precious Boston Terriers, Daisy Mae and Buster Lee, that have stolen our hearts! I love riding dual-purpose motorcycles and have ridden since my early teens. My name is Jerry and I am 52 years old. I live approximately 85 miles south of St. Louis, Missouri. I retired from teaching 29 years of High School Business in May, 2010. I also am an avid reader and love to educate myself by reading most everything I can get my hands on.

I have recently been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and my wife and I are in the educational stages of learning about the difficulties and problems that come with Diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Our goal is to turn our unhealthy eating habits into instinctual, healthy and permanent lifestyle changes so that we can live out our retired years feeling good and being healthy.

My Goals:
Lose weight; reverse the Type II Diabetes, if possible; be healthy; be happy; feel comfortable with my appearance and weight; live a long and healthy life.

My Program:
Tracking my food; walking 30 minutes (2 miles) per day; checking my blood glucose levels; and attempting to get my other bad numbers (blood pressure and cholosterol) down so that perhaps I will be able to eventually come off my meds and control these problems with healthy eating and exercise.

Hello Jerry ! I love my Bostons just like you love your's ! They are just little clowns ! Now do you like in Missouri or Arkansas? Not that I know much of either state. Just know that in your pictures the back ground is just so beautiful looking. I am from Northeast New York , 4 hours North of NYCity and 4 hours South of Canadian Boarder. 15 mins from Vermont near Lake Champlain, Lake George and Saratoga Springs! I'm surrounded by History here.
Sorry to hear that you have been dignosed with Type 2 Diabetes. There is a wonderful team here called Spark People Diabetes Weight Loss 8 Week Challenge! It is a wonderful place to get information and help as you are learning things. They have found that it is very important that you do some strength Training along with cario fitness. Here they give you some exercises to do. I did my very best, but there are still many movements that i can' even come close to doing. I made up my own stuff when things like that happened. You and your DW should give this team a try. I'm still hanging out there to offer support and to give a little guidence to others.

I know that this can become over whelming at time. It is a day at a time and the weight will start coming off. Hope to hear from you as you start out on this journey to healthy living lifestyles. Do please read the articles that SP has to offer. Much good information.
