I'm 30, 5'2, and 146 pounds. (That's an update, folks - when I first wrote this, it said I was 29 and 154lbs!) In the last few months I've become a runner. (almost a year now, actually) I started doing it to lose weight, but enjoyed it so much I decided to stop worrying about my weight and just concentrate on running. Of course, losing weight would help me run faster. ugh. My latest discovery is that pushing myself harder, especially on hills, is a good way to get my weight to drop. woo ...

My first 1/2 marathon is 9/21
Just for fun, my second 1/2 marathon is 10/11

I'm a serious penguin, usually averaging 12 minute miles over long distances. I can run at 11 or even 10 minute miles (for shorter distances an on flat ground,) but I'm still working on figuring out what speed I can sustain for 13.1 miles.

I'm tracking my food, and running a lot. When I can't run, I walk (that's a lot, but I'm getting better.) I also like to do barbell classes at my gym.

Welcome to Sparks. Whether you are here to lose weight or gain a healthier lifestyle, Sparks has the tools to assist you.
I would encourage you to sign up for the daily emails, as they are loaded with great information and article. Pick a team or two (or 10) to join. The teams are formed on interest, weight loss goals, hobbies, ect. You name it and a team has probably been formed.
I wish you luck as you work towards your goals.
