"Brick walls are there for a reason. They let us prove how badly we want things." Randy Pausch
"The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win." - Roger Bannister
"... For every 3,500 calories you burn over and above what you take in, you'll lose 1 pound. All the diet gimmicks in the world won't get you around these hard numerical truths."
After suffering through a heart attack, one's goals change drastically.
Goal #1 - Live to be a grandfather one day.
Okay, that's really my only REAL goal. The rest is detail.
I run. A lot. No, I mean a LOT.
Run days: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Sat ... Mon, Wed, and Sat are certains. The rest are added as I feel necessary.
I was born and raised in Houston, TX. From the age of 19 until today, I have lived in Houston (TX), Wrightstown (NJ), Audobon (NJ), Birmingham (AL), Atlanta (GA), Laurens (SC), Kingsland (GA), St Marys (GA), Austin (TX), Sandpoint (ID), and currently in Plano (TX).
I am a husband. I have three beautiful daughters (who all drive me nuts - but I love them anyway).
I work as a Project Manager for software development.
I run to live - I run to stay alive. I run because prior to this lifestyle, I was killing myself by killing my heart.
Some of my favorite quotes:
"Racing isn't about running until you're tired. Racing is about running after you're tired."
"You're running on guts. On fumes. Your muscles twitch. You throw up. You're delirious. But you keep running because there's no way out of this hell you're in, because there's no way you're not crossing the finish line. It's a misery that non-runners don't understand."
"It's mental until you pass out, then it's physical"
"All it takes is all you got."
"Quit? You know, when I was thinking about quitting when I was diagnosed with brain, lung, and testiculer cancer all at the same time, but with the love and support of my friends and family, I got back on the bike and won the Tour de France five times in a row. But I'm sure you have a good reason to quit." - Lance Armstrong
"Running a 12 minute mile still blows away sitting for 12 minutes on the couch"
