This year in February I turned 30 yrs old and had a wake up call. I looked at myself in the mirror and did not like what I looked like at all!! I decided I needed to make a change and I have! I began getting serious about my weight problem and working out and decided to start doing 5K's!! I ran my first ever 5K on Mother's Day and it was incredible experience :) I ran it with my Mom and sister and we finished in 41min 25sec. and I decided that I wanted to do more! It was such a rush to be out there running!

I took a break from my rigorous training over the Summer to enjoy some time with my family and to also go down to spend time with my family in Southern Maine as my grandfather was dying of lung cancer and wanted to spend as much time with him as possible before he passed away. He lost his battle with cancer on Sept. 3rd at 5:45pm surrounded by everyone who loved him in his home.

Near the end of August, I heard about the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure 5K for Breast Cancer and decided that I wanted to do this 5K as well this year in my Aunt Connie's memory who passed away 10 yrs ago this Sept. 26th from Breast Cancer. So, I registered on-line for it and began my fundraising efforts and my training once again. This past Sunday, Sept. 21, I ran the 5K and smashed my last time with a time of 34min. 17sec.!!! 7 min. 8sec better than in May!!! I couldn't have been any prouder of myself!!

I have decided to train harder and committ to do atleast 4 5K's next Summer :) And a mix of 5k's and 10K's in 2010, and working my way up to a full marathon the summer of my 35th birthday year, 2013, if not sooner :) I never would've ever pegged myself to like running, but the more I do it, the more I love it and each time I race, I feel so alive and full of life!!! It really is a rush!!!

My Every Day Life!
I am one busy woman!!!
I do Cake Decorating and love it!!!
I love doing Wedding Cakes as every one of them is a huge challenge :)
And I love to do custom order cakes. I just did one that looked like the Chili Pepper on a Chili's Restuarant Sign for a Groom's Cake! It was a huge hit!!! The biggest challenge cake I have ever done was a collaboration with a friend of mine and we did a HUGE cruise ship cake!! It took us three days to assemble and decorate it!!! What an undertaking! But it was so awesome to see their faces when they came and picked it up!!!

I am also the Town Treasurer for out little town, as well as the School Board Chairperson and RPC Committee Member for RSU #24. Plus, my little man is in Pre-School and I am a member of the pre-school committee for that :) And I work as a PMR for the PO in the town just South of me and love that job!!!! I am one busy little Mommy!!!!

My Healthy Lifestyles Goals:
My Goal Weight: 130lbs
9/21/08: 158lbs
Cholesterol: less than 200
August 2008: 205
Sugar Level: less than 100
August 2008: 98

I struggle with my weight, cholesterol, and sugar as an on-going battle with my Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Over the winter months I am going to research more about specific diets to follow to help get my body more in check with where it is at. Since PCOS is an Endocrine Disorder, I know that not everything I do will prevent me from someday developing problems with my sugar, but if I can keep my lifestyle healthy and continue to exercise and eat healthy and be healthy, then I can win the battle :)

I didn't realize your southern Maine home was Berwick! Did you go to Noble? If so, you and my hubby were in school together! I like your page updates.
