My lumbar laminectomy of May 2013 has resulted in much less pain, allowing me to be more active. The plan for 2014 is to continue to do brisk walking on a daily basis, with a goal of a minimum of 20 miles per week. This year I will add core strengthening and light upper body weights.
The Winter 5% Challenge will be an effective tool to drop the 20+ pounds that I gained due to inactivity post surgery. Feeling lighter, more energetic, and moving about easier will be my reward. Not to mention all the 'new' clothes I can once again wear!
Lose weight and tone up, especially my core.
Short term goal: Lose 5% of my weight (8.6 lbs.) for the 5% Weight Loss Challenge.
Longterm goal: Lose 25 to 30 lbs., tone up, and maintain sobriety!
Walk 5 miles/day, EVERY day. 45 mins. of that will be BRISK walking. Fitbit threshold set at 12,500 steps.
Incorporate stretching and core strengthening into daily activities. Use light weights 2 to 3 times a week.
Eat whole, minimally processed foods and add supplements. Portion control is a must!

Thanksgiving Eve of 2013, adopted 2 beautiful rescue kitties, that I have named Cocoa and Cinnamon. They are sisters and are Torties (tortoiseshell colors of black, cinnamon brown, and some cream).
They have enriched my life and home so much!
