Again? Yes, again, it's been almost a year since I was here. I have to do SOMETHING, so I have turned back to SparkPeople. Much has changed. I got a promotion at work last summer, which has been good in some ways but has undoubtedly brought more stress into my life. Last October, I finally quit smoking after 28 years (oooh, just writing that looks awful). I've stayed quit, which is a great thing, but am now dealing with weight gain and depression. I guess I've put on about 10 pounds since quitting smoking, and have ZERO motivation to do anything about it. I pretty much have zero motivation for everything! Well, I take that back. I had enough motivation to log back on to SparkPeople today. I'll take that as a small positive step.
My goal is to lose 10-15 pounds!
Watching what I eat, making healthier choices, walking with my dog and on my treadmill, and drinking water. Nothing fancy!
I love my family, my dog and cats, and my Kindle! I like to read and surf the Internet. I also enjoy swimming, fishing with my husband, and hanging out with my kids. Looking forward to my first garden this summer. I work in a school system and LOVE having summers off!

Hey, you! Glad to see that you had a great time on vacation. I can not wait until mine! I'm doing okay. We are leaving here in about 3 weeks. I'm so excited! I've been shopping online for SMALLER clothes (oh, yeah!) and my husband said that one bedroom is covered with packages! LOL. I told him it's going to be an early Christmas for me. Anyway, thanks for hollering at me. Hope you're actually excited about getting back on the horse!

Hi fellow Tennessean! Thx for checking in on me. I'm ok. Bad homesick, though. I don't know why this deployment is so much harder on me than the last one, but it is. Maybe it's the extra 5 years... I just want to get home and do things I haven't done for 6 months: clean, mow the yard, cook HEALTHY, spend time with family, especially Allie, and just hear the frogs and crickets. I have painting to do before we replace our 16 year old carpet with hardfloor. Can't wait! Anyway, hope yu are doing well. I was actually contemplating on messaging you yesterday, but then I got busy. Thx again! Hang in there. WE CAN DO THIS! Keep us in your prayers. It's 120 over here..Woowee...drinking LOTS of water.

Hello TNMOM22 - hope you've had a healthy productive day! Just checking in...I was feeling a bit under the weather but after reading some motivational articles, decided to go ahead and do my strength training. Guess its what I needed as I feel a little better.

Thank you for replying! It's nice to know that a Tennessean is only a website away. It sounds like you are doing really good and I'm proud of you. My husband and I, along with Allie & Penny (our rat terrier mix), will be going to the Outer Banks in September, and since I should be home by the end of July, it will be the perfect opportunity to lose that last 5-10 pounds before our trip. Whenever possible, I take Allie where I go. I never had trouble with my weight until after my return in 2005, and it will NEVER happen again! Maddie sounds great! Allie loves to ride, too. I actually just bought her some doggles...her head HAS TO BE outside the window and I got worried about damage to her eyes. There will be alot of commuters to get a good laugh! Hi. My name is Carrie. I just wanted to give a small tip, please don't get offended. But I, too, have a black lab....let him/her help you to shed the weight. Allie is so full of life! Before my deployment (I'm in Iraq now), taking her to the river, walking in the woods or park, any activity outdoors that labs love to do can benefit us, also, as lab moms. I CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN TO TN! I have 15-20 more pounds to lose, and I'm going to let Allie help me. I work at a desk all day, so when I get off, 10 hours of stress weighs me down. I have lost about 46 pounds, but I'm not as active now that I have an office job, so to keep from gaining, I eat even less. I certainly don't want to gain any weight back. I gained 70 pounds since 2005, because I turned to alcohol (mostly) and larger amounts of food after my 1st deployment. I lost a good friend and I was trying to find comfort. December of last year was a wake-up call! Anyway....looking forward to getting active, again, and enjoying my black lab to the full extent in the process. I have learned to eat smaller & healthier portions, and now it's time to learn how to use my natural resources to stay active and keep the weight off! Drinking alot of water is key for me, too. It's a healthy choice, whether in the states or here in Iraq. Good Luck!
