This is how we do it!

I'm 44 years old and looking to lose some of the weight I've gained over the last few years as my metabolism has slowed. I am 6'0" tall and started my SP journey when I hit 175 lbs, which was squeezing me slowly out of all my size 12 pants.

I used to be very active. I hiked, backpacked, ran, sailed, and even completed a marathon. But as I became a mom, and my focus became my children's needs, I took less time for myself. So between that and my slowing metabolism, the pounds slowly ...

I used to be very active. I hiked, backpacked, ran, sailed, and even completed a marathon. But as I became a mom, and my focus became my children's needs, I took less time for myself. So between that and my slowing metabolism, the pounds slowly kept adding on.

I love to cook, and generally feed my family healthy, well-balanced meals revolving around our CSA shares. Still, I ended up at 175, so now it is time to be more vigilant about intake, portion control, and exercise.

I want to fit back into my size 10 jeans! I want to run a half-marathon again someday! (Never again a marathon - but then, you should never say never!) And I want to hike the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim!

My Goals:
-Drink 8 glasses of water a day
-Eat a healthy breakfast every morning
-Track my food every day

My Program:
I monitor portion size carefully to remind my body of what is appropriate for me.

I run 2-3 miles three mornings a week, I hike a mountain trail every Saturday morning (between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on the trail I choose), and do strength training at home three times a week.

Oh that's too funny! I live on the north side of Detroit so about 80 mins from Ann Arbor. I haven't yet made it up to Phoenix on my visits but I've seen lots of wonderful things of that area too. I've been out to Tucson three times so far - last year he took me up Picachu. Wow. That was a hike! Can't wait to see what challenge this year brings :)

What area of AZ do you live in? My brother is in Tucson and I've been out to visit him a few times the past few years. Sooo pretty out there - so different than MI. He's taken me on many hikes and I love it.

Thank you for your comments on my page. I am back. I had a crazy long weekend. Now everything goes back to normal. I ran again today. 2 miles. Very happy about it.
