Still and Quiet No More!

This was the year to be "Still and Quiet" to listen to what God had planned for me to do. The very first thing He told me was to start taking care of ME. Wow, what a thought... take care of me.

This was the year to be "Still and Quiet" to listen to what God had planned for me to do. The very first thing He told me was to start taking care of ME. Wow, what a thought... take care of me.

Well, the winter and spring brought great weight losses and excellent news on the diabetes front. I had easily loss 10% of my body weight and I reduced my diabetes meds from two to one (and the cheap one - YES!). I continued to see progress and made my summer time goal. A short stay in the hospital and summer vacations have had me fighting with the same few pounds, but I have stayed right around and usually below my summer goal.

That was last year - this year, I'm still going to listen to God, but my still and quiet have been replaced with a little more loudness and great determination.

I've added weight training and Pi-Yo into my program so that I can maximize my cardio burning. I've started interval run walks which have challenged my muscles in a new way. I'm still fairly slow (13 min miles), but I know that time will get faster with additional training and ultimately as I continue to lose weight.

I'm tracking my food and exercise again - I find it very easy to eat a lot and not realize it if you don't write it down.

I'm still thanking God for getting me here and for giving me last year as still and quiet and for bring me into this year. I'm still focusing on my health and fitness and I have God and my husband to thank for that.

My Goals:
My number one goal is to stop taking diabetes medication. I've already been blessed to be taken off of one drug, leaving one to go. Weight loss is a secondary goal, but goes hand in hand with the medication as eating better and moving more generally make you loss weight. The fifty pounds would take me out of the offical "obese" catergory.

My Program:
I try to move six days a week for forty minutes or more. I have dropped processed carbohydrates from my diet and replaced them with lots of veggies and lean meats.

Personal Information:
My name is Tricia. I'm married to a wonderful, wonderful man. We have four children that are pretty cool. We live in Michigan.


Other Information:
Favorite book is the Bible - I know it's cliche but it holds the answers to the universal problems.
Huge fan of Indiana Jones movies - great time for me with number 4 coming out.
Love watching all of the sports my kids are involved in.
