Sweet Baby Lily
Will is growing up so fast! 4 years old, 2011
I have learned that my body is actually rather smart and that if I just listen to it, eat instinctively and move lovingly when my body tells me to, my overall health is much better for it. My journey does not require a diet, does not require hours upon hours on the treadmill, or counting this, that or the other thing. Instead, I have learned to love and trust my body to arrive at the right weight and state of health when I listen to what it is trying to tell me about what to eat and when to move. I don't need guidelines or experts for this. I just need introspection and connection with the God who made my body to function perfectly and wonderfully. So far, this new attitude has really been paying off. I am not on a low-calorie diet and I feel full and satiated. I eat what my body wants me to, when it wants me to eat it. I'm not in pain from killing myself at the gym. I refuse to work against my body. Instead, love and tenderness is helping me to win all the way!
My goal is to achieve health of body, mind and spirit.
I trust my body to know what it needs. I listen to it, and do my best to eat when hungry and stop when full. I move my body, when it tells me it needs to move. I'm currently doing 75-90% raw foods and I feel so energetic!
I have graduate education in theology and psychology and I am learning to love myself as much as I love other people. I am also a mother, wife, freelance writer and an advocate for women and babies during pregnancy and childbirth.
"Health at Every Size" is sort of the philosophy I subscribe to, except I believe that my body is intelligent because God made it that way. So, for me this is part of my faith journey.
