    Hi, and welcome to SparkPeople. Just read your "How's Your Day . . ." post about thinking you might try running. I'm 66, I've never been a runner, and I purposely avoided running for the past 10 years or so because my knees were getting 'creaky'. Last January my sister challenged her siblings, cousins and their offspring to join her in a 10k charity run in April. Several of us took on the challenge and began training early in January. I was a dedicated walker and figured I'd register as a walker but do the runner training till my knees said 'no more'. To my complete surprise and now, my deiight, the running did not bother my knees at all and I now consider myself a 10k runner. I've been a couple of events and ran 2 or 3 times a week all summer, and will get back to it for the same 10k event next spring. SparkPeople has a variation of the training program I followed. I invite you to check it out. You might be pleasantly surprised : )
