Hi there!

I have been so busy running around since about June that I havenít really taken much time to visit my friendsí pages, let alone get on the computer! Iím not apologizing because I havenít been able to ambulate like this in over 10 years! Woohoo! But I am sorry that it has been so long since I have visited your page!

I found this tidbit of information that I thought note worthy and thought Iíd share it with you. Did you know that chickpeas help curb cholesterol? Participants who ate 1 cup of chickpeas 3 times a week for 12 weeks had lower cholesterol readings by 7/7 points on the average.

The reason is: Chickpeas are high in fiber and polyunsaturated fats, which help reduce total cholesterol. I particularly like hummus Ďmy wayí. I use 2 cans of drained chickpeas, 4 to 5 cloves garlic, 2 teaspoons of cumin, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1 teaspoon of ground coriander. I reserve the liquid from one of the cans of chickpeas and dump the drained and rinsed chickpeas into the food processor with the garlic and turn it on. I add only enough of the reserved liquid to make the mixture move (I like mine thick like peanut butter so I can spread it on crackers or bread). While it is mixing I add the other ingredients and let it run until smooth and velvety. Itís the only way I like hummus. I love it spread thickly on homemade whole grain bread with tomatoes and lettuce and a bit of sweet relish. (Hint: spread both slices of bread for hummus sandwich and it wonít need and any mayo)

Thatís my big tip of the day! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs as always~Dusty emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi !

I know this is BBQ and grilling season and nobody wants to hear this but: I just received my latest edition of Tufts news letter and thought Iíd share a little info in brief:

ďWhatís at Steak
Red meats and processed meats make mortality risk higher.
Red meat, overall mortality Ė men 11% and women 16%.
Red meat death from heart disease- men 11% and women 21%.
Processed meat, death from heart disease- women 20%.Ē

Personally, I prefer not to eat anything that contains cholesterol. emoticon

Since the weather is so nice these days, I am spending much of my time outdoors and I hope you have the same opportunity; but please do take a moment when you can to let me know how things are going for you!

Hugs as ever~Dusty
