Hi! I have been a fan of Sparkpeople for some time and even recommend it to anyone who shares in interest in healthy living. I need to lose weight, I want to lose weight and have not had success in years. No fault of Sparkpeople! I accept full blame on that one.

My workplace has a wellness incentive program and offers "personal" health coaching via email, telephone or chat and I have even started and stopped that. I just recently re-engaged with my coach and hope her support will help. It is frustrating to be one of those people who "excels at everything you do" --- except this. (And a few other areas in MY opinion but I am chosing to refrain from more negativity. I do not hold myself in as postive a light as others - part of the problem maybe?

It is time for a change for me -- I can not wallow in the shadows of life anymore. I want to be a runner -- I want to run races and compete (not as a professional but as a hobby) just to see if I can do better than the last time. I want to be more active and lead a more active lifestyle with my family. My stepkids live with us - we have been raising them for the past seven years. At 17 and 15, they are not fat, but they are NOT fit. My husband could use some health improvements as well. How can I be taken seriously about needing to lead a healthy lifestyle when I am 80 pounds overweight!?! Is my family embarrassed of my appearance? I don't know, they would never tell me because they would never want to make me feel bad - but I worry about it. I need to make a change in my career but the thought of going on interviews looking like this is too overwhelming. I am missing many many opportunities to enjoy this blessed life I have because of my embarrassment of my weight gain.

Today, I weighed myself for the first time in months. Guess what? I am the fattest I have ever been in my whole entire life.

I am here to try again. I am here to get my life back.

I am married to the BEST husband in the world and my two beautiful stepdaughters came to live with us when we moved to Tampa from Rhode Island in 2003. I am a registered nurse working full time for a hospital in the quality department and have a small home based consulting business.

Other Information:
Adore my two little dogs, Tinker and Gizmo, and have a pet sitting business too.

I LOVE the Gulf coast of FL and try to get to the coast any time I can but don't get there nearly enough.

I am a passionate reader and enjoy cooking healthy food that tastes great. I became a vegetarian in Dec. 2008 and it was one of the best decisions I ever made! I have developed a love for loose tea and would love to open a tea bar/cafe. Someday...

01/09/11 Update: Newly diagnosed food allergies have given me the final push to becoming vegan. I was headed that way anyway... :)

08/03/2011 -- missed me? haha -- I am back again to give it another try. I call a "Do Over!"

Glad you're back. I'd love to say I've been doing great and have reached all my goals, but I let work and life get in the way too! I'm so tired of beating myself up over this. I just need to find the motivation to make this a lifestyle change. Hope you're doing well. I started walking again this week, did 3 miles 3 days this week. A couple of weeks of that and I hope I'll feel ready to re start C25K too. Keep me posted o your progress!

I just started back too! I've started losing track and I know I just need to knuckle own.It's so dang hot! I'm looking forward to going back to Al Lopez too.

I started back to what worked for me in the beginning....committing to just 10 min. / day of cardio. For some crazy reason it 's enough to make me get off my duff. For me, if I get exercise worked in i'm much more likely NOT to blow it and keep my diet reasonable.

I'm spending some time cooking, chopping and packaging this weekend.
Little changes really do magic! Don't beat yourself up. I think the goal setting process really helps me to focus. Now I.ve got to get moving myself! Hang in there girl!
