This is my journey to a healthier lifestyle

Hi I have just joined and have a long way to go, I started my journey 6 weeks ago 13/04/09 at 171kg (377lb).
I have started my Sparkpage journey from 24/05/09 when I was down to 157kg (347lbs). I love the idea of support and supporting others thru this change of lifestyle.
I am a mother of 3 grown children 2 girls and 1 boy, I am also a proud grandmother of 8 wonderful grandchildren 7 boys and 1 girl.
I care for my Mother and younger sister full time at home, both of them ...

1. I would like to get down to 100kg (220.5lbs) by next April - May 2010

2. Lose the weight so my son will give up smoking.

3. I want to go on my 1st plane trip to Aussie early next year, and be able to sit comfy in the chair.

I have always been a large Girl, but now I plan to enjoy myself and treat myself better than I have been.

Good Monday Morning,

This week the message is short. The month of September is almost over; can you believe it, almost done! We are getting ready to bring in October which brings us closer to the holidays and the end of the year.

I am joyful today and Iím hopeful that this week will be wonderful for you. It is a positive state of mind and attitude we must possess, we must claim it and speak it into existence. Sometimes we have to really dig deep to find the positives in a negative situation. So what if you had a lousy go of it last week; thatís done, itís over; do not revisit or dwell on it. If you made mistakes; you know my motto; chalk it up as a lesson learned and move forward. So with that, letís move forward to the great week thatís ahead of us. Letís proceed by saying: it will be a good week, I will do everything in my power to make it so!

On September 10, 2009 I celebrated my 5th anniversary of being cancer free!

I canít begin to tell you what that means to mean. In 2004 I was not sure I would be alive to tell the story, but I am here and I must share my thoughts with you!

I would like to remind you that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I am preparing early to get the word out to everyone that will listen. There is a slogan that states ďEarly detection is the best Protection.Ē I must say itís true. I am a living witness; yes a living witness! Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, aside from skin cancer. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), an estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed among women in the United States this year. An estimated 40,170 women are expected to die from the disease in 2009 alone. Today, there are about 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the United States.

We are on this journey together to reduce the numbers we see on the scale. This is wonderful, become better, healthier new and improved. However, itís more than numbers on the scale. We must monitor all aspects of our health to ensure we are healthier in aspects of life. In addition to losing the weight, we want to be around to enjoy it. So please, please, please take the time out and take care of yourselves. Encourage your friends and love ones to do the same; itís all a part of the big picture, not just the scales.

Regardless of your current status, you are all beautiful people and you deserve the best life has to offer. So while youíre making plans to do your cardio, resistance/strength training, make plans to care for your body, become familiar with it. It only takes a moment to give yourself an exam and spread the word. Letís live life to the fullest, try things we only dream of, go places weíve only seen on television and dare to be the best we can be; not only for ourselves, but those that love us as well.
