I'm a PhD student trying to stay active and get in shape.


I joined SP in March of 2007 to get in shape for my August 07 wedding and honeymoon. By July of 2007, I had fallen off the wagon.

In late July of 2008, I discovered that I loved running on our treadmill. I downloaded SP's "You Can Run a Mile Without Stopping" and began my journey again. I started tracking my food on August 8th, with the goal to run better and increase my mileage.

Exercising has always been a chore, and I'm thrilled that I found an activity that I'm passionate about. Running has motivated me to eat lighter, more nutritious meals and to begin strength training exercises to increase performance and prevent injury.


7/29/08- Started "You Can Run a Mile Without Stopping"
8/29/08- Started C25K
10/19/08- First 5K
11/27/08- 5K
12/13/08- First 6 mile race
1/12/09- Started Hal Higdon's Novice Marathon Training for the 5/23/09- Traverse City Bayshore Marathon
3/09- Stress fractured my hip and stopped exercising
5/6/09- Exercising again (no impact)
7/7/09- Running again
5/2/10- First Half Marathon

My Program:
Staying active during pregnancy-

I was hoping to do do a full marathon this fall. After struggling with infertility, I was thrilled to find out I was pregnant in the spring of 2010. Due in January, I've stayed very active, completing a half marathon, a triathlon, and several smaller road races while pregnant.

Personal Information:
I'm a PhD student with 2 years of school left. I'm happily married to my awesome husband, and enjoy reading, gardening, and cooking.

    i am a member of the lansing losers team to, just thought i would say hello and visit my page anytime. i don't run much, but if i could get some of this weight off i might try it. emoticon i do however have a treadmill but i am just walking on it for now the highest speed i have reached is 3.5mph. maybe one of these days i can go higher.
