Time to make good on a promise

With changes in life come a new perspective...

When I was in high school I ran long distance and when I was in college I raced on a bicycle. I continued to ride and run occasionally until I was in my late thirties and then I simply could not find the time anymore.

When I turned forty, I promised myself that I would run a half marathon by forty four and a marathon before I turned forty five. I managed to finish the half marathon in time, but I still have not done the full and I am not happy with the fact that I cannot yet *run* the half marathon distance.

Health issues and a job that I love, but that makes it hard to be athletic, have been my demons and I have come here to find focus and get some support. I may never choose to run the 26 miles again, but I want to get my times down and really be able to run the distance events I enter.

My Goals:
Be able to run a half marathon at an age graded pace that is better than 50. I am close - I just have to keep at it.

Get down to 155#

Be able to comfortably complete a century ride again.

More goals will follow...

My Program:
Small steps:
Keep running races - that keeps me interested.

Weight Watchers, running, cycling, roller blading, weight training - nothing as organized as it should be, but I fit it in when and where I can.

Thanks for the nice words, Thomas! Sending you and your darling wife hugs. Even though I am not walking the Tinker Bell HM, I hope to be there for the expo and/or SP meet-up. Hope to see you both then! Becky

Hi Thomas ! I am definitely doing the Tinker Bell half in January ! The January timing is actually better for us than September but it will be interesting to see what the weather will be like! Are you doing the September or January races in DL?

May you always have work for your hands to do.
May your pockets hold always a coin or two.
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane.
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
