I'm busy getting stronger!

I had to change my bio because it just did not apply anymore! Unfortunately I am still a thirty-something Mom and always a work in progress but I got my mojo back! I work out for fun, fitness, health, sanity, and most importantly, the feeling of achievement! Heavy weights get my priority but I enjoy the occasional fun cardio (Step class or Trampoline Aerobics) as well as a spattering of HIIT somewhere in there. I love finding new hardcore exercises to try out and, to that end, will soon become ...

I work out for fun, fitness, health, sanity, and most importantly, the feeling of achievement! Heavy weights get my priority but I enjoy the occasional fun cardio (Step class or Trampoline Aerobics) as well as a spattering of HIIT somewhere in there. I love finding new hardcore exercises to try out and, to that end, will soon become ACE certified as a personal trainer as well as AFAA certified as a Group Exercise Instructor. These will be nice additions to my nursing degree (RN) and I hope one day (when kiddos are in school!) to work in Employee Wellness or Health Promotion. Right now it is still changing diapers, fitting in workouts, and picking up the same toys over and over. ;) And being a cardiac RN! ;)

My Goals:
I'm really bad about setting goals but for me IT IS ALL ABOUT GETTING STRONGER THAN LAST TIME and if that is happening I could care less what the scale tells me. Because if you are stronger, you are better!!!

My Program:
Definitely working on some minor goals of getting 1.5x bodyweight on Squat, 2x on DL, and upping bench. I just recently starting benching again after exclusively doing push-ups and I was surprised at my strength. Otherwise, my motto for the most part is "go heavy or go home". Lifting is my priority.

Hi Nurse Thrashej, Happy New Year! Thank you for being so inspiring. I read your comments to Gymgirl79 and I have ordered those books on weight lifting for women. I can't wait to read them put them to practice...I have a question for you...when you say "last 2 reps should be very difficult"...when you do squats, for example, do you start lifting heavy and then work down? With the last 2 reps being difficlut for each set? I normally start lower and work up, so of course, the "very difficult" only occurs on the last two sets or so.
