Been pretty steady on SP for a year now and have lost about 35 pounds!!!
I've worked up from just walking ~3 miles to running 3.5 to 4 miles and walking 6 or 10.
I've gone from a size 18 to a size 12/14.
And I've gone from dragging myself onto the couch after work - with all the strength I had left for the day - to being able to go strong almost every night until 11 and sometimes later!
The exercise has stayed very consistent through the year, but I stopped being as careful about my eating around June. As a result, I haven't lost significant weight since June. I'm back on that wagon now, so let's see what new changes will result in 2013!!
2012 was all about turning 50 and all sailing all the time from about May on. I didn't get my Old Rag hike in, mostly because weather/schedule didn't align. But we'll see what I manage to pull off this year. :)
I've been around the block several times. I'm hoping that this time will stick. I'm pretty tired of my weight being in charge of my life.
I've got a great family, a great job, and awesome friends who share my interest in camping, kayaking, sailing, biking, and hiking and are all pretty much up for trying anything outdoors. I live in the DC area, so we have unlimited activities, with oceans to the right of us, mountains to the left of us and everything else to do in between.
I want to hike Old Rag, run 5Ks, and join my friends on 30-50 mile bike rides.
I'm looking very forward to seeing what changes this adventure brings.
Stick to calorie limits
Workout at least 5 times a week.
Use the tools on SP to keep track of everything and stay motivated.
30 minutes of organizing every day.
Run a whole 5K in 30 minutes or better
Hike Old Rag
Ride my bike to work
High nutrition food between 1200 and 1500 calories a day.
2 Tbsp. flax meal per day
3 C + of fruits/veggies per day
Very limited alcohol, sweets, and fried foods.
Weights 3X per week
Cardio 5X+ per week
I grew up in the Buffalo area (Niagara Falls, Brocton, Dunkirk, Fredonia). I've lived in Germany and Canada and all up and down the east coast.

Dressed up little creatures
On a dark October night
Run from door to door
Giving everyone a fright.
They come and ring your doorbell
And before they will retreat,
They beg you for some candy
By yelling "trick or treat".
When their bags are full,
They run home to eat their fill.
They taste a bit of everything
And by morning they are ill!
So to keep the youngsters healthy,
I've figured out a deal.
This year instead of candy,
I'll give them all oatmeal!
