cultivating & learning to love myself

February 28, 2014. In the past two years I've stayed about the same, gone up and down some but haven't made any lasting changes. I'm putting back into practice the healthy habits I know I have... that sometimes I just get lazy about practicing. I'm happy to have Sparkpeople to connect me to people and topics that help to inspire me when I need it! Hopefully, I'll be able to give back too!

April 2, 2012. I'd been away for almost a month (in Mexico, working) and when I signed on today I was pleased to see that in three months I've managed to trim 10 pounds. I know it's not a fast loss at all, but what makes me feel satisfied is that I have tried to make this change and it is working out in a real way.

We all know life happens! Mine has been happening lately and when I don`t intend, I lose weight and when I try to maintain I gain it back. I am using sparkpeople to help me remember how to balance and be healthy. Thank you all for the wonderful support on here, I hope I can provide the same for you!

Welcome 2011. When will I learn? Ideally, I know how to eat properly and in the proper portions and I'll do that for a while and then just rebel against myself. I like the layout of sparkpeople but have found myself suddenly not listening to my body's needs because I need to eat x=# grams of protein each day... So... I'm going to be a little loose with my ranges, at least for now, and just make sure I'm feeling healthy and energetic.

I'm starting 2011 quite a bit heavier than I just was... 155... and though I have doubts about how real my weight was yesterday, I'm going to use it and go from here. Last year my goal was to trim down to 130 pounds and this may be my long term goal, but for now I'm aiming for 140 sometime between Valentine's Day and March 1.

My goals, both weight/health and other, for 2011 include:
1. finish my dissertation!
2. NO cookies! Unless I run a half marathon so... why don't I aim to FINALLY run a half marathon this year! (It was a goal a few years ago but I hurt my back, not running related.)
3. do not date or waste my time and energy on people who really aren't worth it for me
4. find and cultivate peace with myself in all aspects
5.no more than 1 latte per week! (more financial reason)
6. budget wisely! Do not spend all my money at anthropologie!!

Hey there, Beautiful One!

My attitude took a BIG HIT with my job loss. Trying to console myself with mindless eating just made things worse... Looking at those numbers on the scale was a BIG AWAKENING.

I refuse to go on a diet or obsess about food any longer. I've taken back my control and put things in their proper perspective - food is mean to nourish us, not to sooth our weary souls! Anyhow, by eating only when I'm hungry has so far proven to take away my conpulsive thinking of food! I'm trying to keep busy and have stocked the house with nutrient rich foods to satisfy me when the urge to eat strikes, instead of just eating for whatever reason strikes me, non or which is due to hunger. I'm being *mindful over mouthful*.
