Shin splints are pure evil! I was enjoying my running program - I was logging in 50 some odd miles per week of walking/jogging (mostly walking, but you've got to start somewhere, right?!) and then those evil things happened! I know you've probably heard it before, but have you had your shoes reassessed? I bought a new pair of running shoes and, unfortunately, what felt great on my feet while standing made my feet rock in some weird motion while running. I stopped wearing them once I suspected that they were the cause of my shin splints and haven't looked back! I'm dreading the money that I will spend, but I'm heavily leaning towards going to a store specifically intended for runners to have someone pick out a pair of shoes based on my foot and pronation. Good luck with running, I know you can do it! :)
