I am 55. I was thin for the first 25 or so years of my life. I still think I am thin. I need to develop a realistic sense of what I look like. I hope that will motivate me to take this whole health routine more seriously

I love reading, movies, anime, table-top gaming and video gaming. I would love to get back to hiking and camping. My creative outlets are in fiber; knit, crochet, tat, embroider, needlepoint, crewel work, quilt, and most recently spinning.

I am in graduate school now, Health Education. My first major project and paper are on preventing type 2 diabetes. For the project, I am proposing to use CDCs Diabetes Prevention Program. I think that it will dovetail nicely with Sparkpeople's resources. The project only requires that I know about this program and can write about it in a way to obtain funding for a community health project. I am actually working through CDCs DPP along with the SparkPeople 8-Week Diabetes Weight Loss Challenge. CDC wants participants to loose 7% of their initial body weight and work up to at least 150 minutes a day of exercise over a period of 6 months. My initial weight loss goal is to get down to 212 pounds. So 17 pounds in six months. Of course I'd like to lose more, but that is a very doable goal. I will start another 7% goal at 212 pounds.

So my paper and project will be done long before I get through the CDD PDD, and even before I complete the Sparkpeople 8 week program. That is okay, while the paper/project are for learning purposes, following the programs are for life.

To be the middle aged, and live to be the little old lady that looks so great healthy and vibrant that others want to be like her. I saw one of these women and she is my goal. Cute jeans and shirt, sparkly sandals, gray hair and a winning smile and healthy body. I want to be her when I get old!
