No Excuses! It's Life or Death...

My number one reason for joining is to find some support on my journey to get healthy. Not only do I want to lose a lot of weight (100+ lbs), but I want to BE HEALTHY. I want to lower my cholesterol and blood pressure, and build a strong body.

My starting weight was 279.4 lbs on January 28, 2011 when we had the first weigh-in for The Biggest Loser contest at work. When I joined SP on February 26, 2011, I weighed 270 lbs. My goal is to get down to 167 lbs (the last weight I remember feeling healthy and good about my body at) by February 28, 2012. At that point I'm planning to re-assess as my "healthy weight" according to all the charts is below 145 lbs. I'm thinking maybe 137 as my FINAL goal, but for now I'm sticking with 167.

My Goals:
1) Lose 112 lbs
2) Lower my BP - my pie in the sky goal is 110/70 consistently
3) Reach normal triglyceride and cholesterol levels. Raise my HDL to a healthy level.
4) Did I mention that I want to compete in triathlon by my 45th birthday (October 2012)? How crazy is that?
5) Write a book. Really. I want to be a published author.


My Program:
*Even though I was eating a vegan diet, I wasn't losing weight as I was relying a lot on convenience food and prepared meals (chips and salsa are vegan, but definitely not good for you). So I'm focusing on eating more vegetables, cooking from scratch, and eating healthy snacks.
*Eat three meals and two snacks per day.
* Cardio a minimum of an hour a day, 6 days a week.
* Strength training 3x/week.

Personal Information:
I'm 43

Live in Hudson, NY.

Hobbies: knitting, gardening, reading.

Slowly fixing up my fixer-upper.

7/4/11: 226 lbs

10/3/11: 199 lbs (just in time for my 43rd birthday)

12/31/11: 175 lbs

Thank you for the wonderful comment. I think your goal of doing a triathlon is awesome. I'd like to do one next year if I can. I'd have to buy the bike first, of course, but hopefully it could be done. Good luck on your journey!

I am doing good with transitioning. I still have a bunch of frozen chicken so 1 in 4 meals still has meat. Next week some time I will have the training wheels off. I tried tofu for the first time it was not as bad as I expected.

thanks so much for thinking of me & sending the goodie! I'm so happy that the studying & test taking are over for a while. Now, I can concentrate on dealing with this stress & recovering...I let it get the best of me & gained weight back because of it. Need to deal with it all because I can't keep gaining weight back every time I'm stressed...that won't do! Hope you are having a good day!
