Don't Allow Others' Expectations to Define You!

Hi there. Welcome to the page of a lifelong Yooper! What's a Yooper, you ask? Well, that would be the name of people from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I've lived up here my whole life and I love it. The pictures in my gallery will show you some of the reasons.

Of course cabin fever during our particularly snowy winters is something to be avoided at all costs! I like to cross country ski, snowshoe, and just play outside with my dogs and/or nieces and nephews during our snowy season(s). You have to embrace the white stuff or it'll get the best of you.

My Goals:
Walk my first half marathon on May 20, 2007. Finished in 3:46:17!!! Yah!

Complete Couch-to-5K running program. Finished 8/30/07!!

Run first 5K - Done 9/22/07 (1:01:08 - the sweep told us to go the wrong way at a "T" in the trail so it was MUCH more than a 5K!)

Ran 5K on April 26, 2008 - 47:29.7...ran the whole thing!

Ran 5K on April 25, 2009 - 48:24...ran the whole thing in 40 degree rain!

My Program:
Eat lower carb, lower calorie diet. Fit comfortably in my swimsuit for trip to Florida 2/19/10!

EA Sports Active for Wii 3x/wk

Other Information:
I'm into typical "Yooper" stuff--hunting, fishing, camping, biking, hiking, snowshoeing, exploring--almost anything outside!

Wow, how inspiring are you girly? I'm back! Won't provide any excuses cause there are none. I am a little lighter than before, but not nearly enough. Health is a major concern now and I'm more serious than ever. My daughter inspired me to start exercising Jan. 1st, so have been doing more of that and it feels great. Now for tracking calories, that's also a big part of this journey. So good to see you. You're AMAZING! xoxox emoticon

Hey I just read your post on the C25K group the thread, "Forget that "Speed" Thing! " Wow, do I know exactly what you are talking about. My "PLAN" was to do all the weeks walking at 3 MPH and running at 6MPH since that is my goal at the end (to be running about a 10 minute mile) This was challenging but do-able in the beginning. But week 3 has been killer. My PLAN hasn't really worked out so well. Now I'm trying to slow it down some...but feel like the number I run at is too slow makes me feel like a failure. Those treadmill numbers are just playing head games with us... Let's just hope Spring comes to Michigan soon so we can get back outside and forget all this treadmill business! Thanks for posting that..now I don't feel alone.
