TERRIFICLYFIT is a SparkPeople Motivator!
My name is Jackie, and I'm becoming TERRIFICLY FIT!
Like many of you, I have a complicated story that's resulted in joining SparkPeople to regain my health, my energy, and my life.
It took 3 years after I first joined SparkPeople in May 2008 to FINALLY reach my first weight loss goal. I'm proud to share that of June 27, 2011, I lost 41lbs, which was my first milestone. And as of February 2012, I officially lost 50lbs. Woohoo!! Now to work on the last 10 or so!
As for other happenings in my life, I spent a few years working as a health educator in community clinics for the homeless, immigrants, and low income. This was my passion for a long time and what I went to graduate school for. But then 2011 brought about a BIG change in my life, as I just up and sold everything I owned to move to Lima, Peru! It didn't quite work out, but I gave it my best shot for a year and now have returned to San Diego, California to recuperate and regroup.
Follow along on my journeys as I follow my heart...and my brain!
I CAN and WILL be happy and healthy no matter what challenges I face.
JUST DO IT!
My overall objective is to stay healthy and fit the rest of my life.
I'm working on:
- losing the jiggly flab, and
- becoming stronger.
Just do it!
I walk and take public transportation every day, as well as try to run 2-3 times per week. I have to admit my nutrition regimen is not the best since I moved to Lima, but the fresh food and lack of preservatives definitely helps with weight loss.
Originally from Fredericksburg, Virginia, I've lived on both the East and West Coasts. As of April 2011, I've jumped ship for Lima, Peru to challenge myself by living in a completely different culture. It's a true challenge, that's for sure!
Love love love making pottery, kayaking, exploring Mexican art, preparing healthy meals, swimming, researching genealogy, practicing medical anthropology, and brainstorming travel plans.
