One day at a time...

"The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly." --Buddha

It is a constant battle for me to stay in the right frame of mind and stay focused on what I need to do. I have to really fight for this, because this is the one area of my life where I really feel like I can't succeed.

It is a constant battle for me to stay in the right frame of mind and stay focused on what I need to do. I have to really fight for this, because this is the one area of my life where I really feel like I can't succeed.

I've realized that I'm wasting the best years of my life obsessing about my weight, but not actually doing what I need to do to change. So, I decided to get back to basics. All I really have to do are 3 simple things every day:

#1--drink 8 glasses of water
#2--exercise 5 days/week
#3--eat under 1600 calories/day

How easy is that? (ha-ha-ha!)

I hope to meet some positive people who are already succeeding so that I can start to believe that I can do this...

My motivation comes from several things:

1. Diabetes and high blood pressure run in my family and I don't want to go down the same road as many of my family members

2. I want to break the cycle of obesity in my family and set a good example for my kids

3. I want to wear stylish clothes and not dread the summer

My Goals:
My goal is to be fit and healthy and get down to a BMI of 24. I want to wear a swim suit in public and not feel ashamed...

My Program:
Walk briskly on my treadmill, with hand weights (wearing a heart rate monitor) for 45 minutes per day.

I also have to rebuild my core so will be doing ab exercises every day.

Personal Information:
I've been overweight my whole life. I am a pescatarian (I eat fish, eggs & dairy, but no meat).

I've been dieting on and off (mostly off) for 25 years with limited short-term success.

I believe that being overweight is a mindset that I'm working hard to change.

Other Information:
I am an animal lover and love to laugh. I enjoy music, traveling, movies, interior design, doing pottery, kayaking, and reading.
