Change only takes place through action, not through meditation and prayer. --The Dali Lama

Well, here I am again. Joined back in January of 2011 and lost 26 pounds that year, down to a good weight. I looked and felt wonderful. In the past six months or so, I've gained a lot of that back and so here I am again. Why did I gain it back? Well, first off, I didn't stay at my goal weight for very long. But, I did hold steady at a weight that I thought was okay. Not thin, not fat, just ok. And I was happy with it. Then, we started traveling! We had people visit us, we visited people, went ...
We had people visit us, we visited people, went to Disneyland, went to Europe, Sun Valley twice, I could go on.....All those trips did me in. I seem to think that a train or airline ticket means a ticket to eat whatever I want. (And drink! We downed barrels of beer in Belgium.) Now, here I am needing the good peeps of Spark to help me lose it again. I know I can do it! I learned so much on here last time. Wish me luck!

My Goals:
To participate beyond my wildest dreams in the Spring to Summer 5% Challenge and to lose at least 5% of my starting body weight.

I will track all food eaten and all drinks dranken(!), even on embarrassing days. It may hurt you to read my food tracker.

I will exercise like a fiend to earn my team miles.

I will cheer on my team mates and fellow competitors.

My Program:
I will track everything I eat and shoot for under 1300 calories a day.

I will work out at least 6 out of 7 days and no wimpy stuff either.

I will avoid processed carbs such as potatoes, rice, pasta, and bread. I truly believe it's carbs making us fat. No alcohol, I am done with that.

Personal Information:
I live in Fort Collins Colorado, which I love. Am happily married with four children, all grown. I am a Web developer and make awesome web sites. I was born in South Bend, then moved to Tucson and now in Colorado. I hike, I bike, I ski, I walk, I don't sit still much, except to read a good book.

Hello dear!!!! I thought of you the other day when I was trying to locate a good pedometer app for my android. I remembered your blog about comparing different devices and thought "I wonder if there is a blog just like that about the best pedometer apps". Waving to you from emoticon wonderfully warm and sunny Upstate NY.

Thank you for your comment on my blog about the family reunion. Sorry to be so late responding - tempus fugit. Of the paid sites, I find Ancestry, although not cheap, has been the most useful one for me. For contacting others GenesReunited can be useful although I've not subscribed since it was bought up by one of the big players. For a site with useful tools to build the tree itself I think it's hard to go past TribalPages.

I"m living with a new guy....Mr. Fitbit Zip. And he's motivating me to do all kinds of things. Walked 5 miles last night after riding my bike 16 miles. Tonight I ended up .2 mi short of the goal...so put the clothes back on & headed out after dark in an unknown CA town to get 'er done.

Thanks for the encouragement...this little guy even got me to eat a salad for dinner & skip the bread bowl of clam chowder which I might have caved in on. Whew...that was a real train wreck ...just waiting to happen! emoticon
