A bigger life in a smaller body

My sparkjourney has been a roller coaster. I started sparkpeople during a 2 year hiatus from work. I followed the spark plan and lost 100+lbs. I felt amazing. I could run! I liked how I looked in pictures.

Then, I returned to the workforce. All those healthy habits I had established drifted away as, time & again, I chose career over everything else.

And now... I'm on stress leave, burned out, 60 lbs heavier and everything feels so hard.

I want to get back to that healthy lifestyle. To feeling amazing.

The first step is to manage my stress, so I'm going to focus on stress-relieving habits first. Sparkpeople, you helped me once and like a true friend, I know you will help me again.

Thanks for the comment on my blog! It's a lot harder than it was but the outdoors is just so important to me! I have to stop and rest briefly more and I remember then I did a 19 mile walk just a month and a half before my stroke. I don't know if I'll ever do those distances again and it's taken me a long time and work to get here but to me it's so worth it. We are sisters in our love for the outdoors! I've known people before through jobs I had doing case management with disabled and elderly and saw some that just gave up and said they couldn't do anything. I just can't do that! So I will keep doing what I can and working forward! And I'm rooting for you too!

Thanks so much for the goodie and the note! I'm in TX now, instead of NM and just moved into my own apartment about 10 days ago. I stayed with my son for a while about 25 minutes from where I am now, while I went through rehab and stuff outpatient. I spent almost 5 weeks inpatient. My right hand and arm shakes and I have to eat and drink with my left hand to keep from spilling things LOL. I backspace a lot. And my balance is off. But I got to go see a friend in CA for 6 weeks and we went a lot of places, including Kauai in Hawaii where she has a condo she usually rents through an agency for vacations but it was empty when we went. And Yosemite National Park and a few other places besides some places more local in Orange County. It was amazing and she had enough frequent flyer miles to get me from here to there and back, and to get us both to Hawaii. A couple of places that were on my bucket list! I can't hike as well as I used to, and I swear I look like a drunk when walking ha ha. I keep saying I'm going to get a t-shirt that says on the back I'm not drunk, just recovering from a stroke LOL. But I won't stay down and do as much as I can. My life got turned upside down but it's been good even though it took a while to really see it. I almost died and was on a vent for a few days and transferred from my small rural town the same day to Phoenix AZ, then on the 21st of November to a hospital in Dallas closer to my son until discharged Dec 3rd. I'm ready for my own place now and not doing too bad all things considering. I do miss the dog I had and couldn't bring her here when I was hospitalized or living with my son. She was 11 years old, and labs usually live 10 to 12 or 13 years. They couldn't keep her and had her put to sleep. The apartment is pet friendly, and I may consider another dog or a nice cat. I'm not sure yet. I know how much you like dogs and hope it's going well with your dog. So good to hear from you!
