Not a diet, but a lifetstyle change

Hi, I'm a 5'7, 28 year old woman who is going to lose 40 lbs. Right now I am 178-180 lbs. and I want to get back down to 135 lbs. I don't want just a quick diet; I want a healthier lifestyle that includes regular exercise and healthy food choices.

A few years ago I ballooned up to 180lbs from 135 lbs in a matter of just a few months through compulsive over eating. Although I don't compulsively overeat anymore, I do eat out of comfort and stress, and the main staples of my diet have been frozen junk foods and fast-food (at least once or twice a day), including a ton of soda.

This isn't my first attempt at losing the weight. Other attempts failed because I would get discouraged, and also, I recently realized that in the past I wasn't setting myself up for success. Setting myself up for success works much better for me than just telling myself to have will-power. For example, eating breakfast in a reasonable amount of time after getting up sets myself up for success to eat healthier throughout the day, because otherwise I'm much more prone to run out and buy fast food when I'm too hungry too care. Also, I now have the mindset that efforts have to compound over time in order to see results, and to just take it day by day.
