Inspiration 3/4/10 - WE CAN'T BECOME WHAT WE NEED BY REMAINING WHAT WE ARE - Max Dupree. I love the above quotes from Sparkpeople. Maybe that's how I reached my goal and lost 70 lbs. But I'm doing it again, I gained 20 lbs and I'm not happy about it. It will be 3 years with Sparkpeople and w/o it, I would not have been in this weight loss victory. When I lost the 70 lbs, I was very PROUD of myself. I dropped 12 (jean) sizes and from being 3X down to a Large. I walked the Walk-a-Thon (3 miles) for breast cancer in honor of my cousin who is battling it. Then the holidays arrived and I was surrounded by unhealthy foods, was too busy to exercise, and my work schedule changed - rotating every 2 months to the afternoon shift. My willpower buddy went on vacation and so I ate and ate. Not only am I depressed, but I'm disgusted with myself for gaining 10 lbs and not saying, "No thank you" when it was being served to me. OK, now the holidays are over, I'm not so busy, but the work schedule is still the same tho, so there's no more excuses. I'm going back to eating healthy foods, exercise, and get my willpower buddy back. It's time for this gal to kick butt again, lose the 20 lbs, get movtivated, and go back to my "70 lbs goal." Again, Sparkpeople helped me the first time, they're going to do it again the second time, & to help me maintain it. When I went to see my doctor, he told me I was an inspiration to him. I want to keep it that way too! So here I go... 4/14/12 The weather has been getting nicer compared to last year. So I have been able to walk again more but I'm still eating more. I'm hungry all the time...I just wish I was 70 lbs lighter again. I felt happy and healthy; now I feel sluggish and fat. But I'm still going to do it! 03/12/13 Well, I've been with Spark for 5 yrs now. I am struggling to lose but at least my eating habits haven't changed. The weather here is still snowing but I will be out there once it warms up & start walking again. I've been using the treadmill but I can go so much on it. I've been having health issues so I've been busy going to the hospital for tests. So far they have been coming back normal. I know Spark has helped me lose wt & I'm sure it's going to help me again. I just have to get movitated again, but how? 04/01/13 At work, I am in the Wellness Committee (wonder why???) and one of the programs we suggested was Walking Challenge. The first top two ppl walked the most steps win $$$. Now this is motivation to me. It's not just the $$$ it's "I want to be number #1 or #2" "Noboby is going to out beat me" "I now have an excuse to get out and walk." Twice I walked on the bike trail and total miles 6.8 miles! The weather was beautiful but tomorrow is rain. Next week I start the 10-6p shift for a month, I have to figure out what to do about walking since I come home late.

My Program:
During the spring & summer, walk 2-4 miles on the bike trail. During winter, treadmill 30-40 mins, circuit training, and strength exercising including using the stability and medicine ball

My name is Ellen and I live in NW suburbs of Chicago, IL. I married a wonderful guy, Mark on May 8, 1999. I also have 3 cats who enjoy watching & "helping" me exercise in the mornings. I guess it's one way to get their backs scratched!
