I'm Midgie. I'm 51 years old, and have been married 31 of them. I'm Mom to 2 grown sons, 29 & 26 years old - and ecstatic Grandma to 2 Granddaughters, ages 9 & 8 - and a 6 year old Grandson. Oh, and we dare not forget Their Majesties - Sammy, our bossy big kitten and his little sister, Katie! (Rico, my Beloved Tabby, crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2013.) They keep me busy! As of February 18, 2013, I had lumbar surgery - which derailed my activity somewhat for a bit, but gave me the feeling back in my left leg!

If stress burned calories, after the last few years I'd be Twiggy! Alas, not. Did I mention I tend to be an emotional eater? Yeah. So, one of my biggest goals for this year - and always - is actually casting my burdens on My Lord instead of just talking about it! Anyone else out there with me?

Hooray for Sparks - and especially all my Sparkfriends who have hung with me through the nearly 5 years I've been here!! And big welcoming hugs to all the new friends I hope I'm going to make!

Nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37)!

My Program:
The Weight Loss has really been kicking in, between the support I get here and at TOPS. I found out I was gluten Intolerant in August 2012; and going gluten-free has helped a lot - taking down the bloating, etc. I just had back surgery (02/18/13), which will really help my activity level once I recover, now that I no longer have a numb left leg!

Personal Information:
I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan with my husband of 31 years. We have two sons, who are 29 & 26; and 3 beautiful grandchildren (2 girls and a boy) who are 9, 8, and 6 and a half. I'm very blessed.... God has given me lots of reasons to want to live healthier & longer!

Friendship Duet

We meet new people every day;
Why we like some, who can say?
Maybe it's because they think like us;
It might be because they seldom fuss.

It's hard to know why closeness grows;
We like some better; that's how it goes.
I think you're special; I’m glad we met;
Let's keep having fun in our friendship duet.

You are the recipient of the Beautiful Woman Award!!

Once you've been given this award, you have to paste it on the page of 8 women who deserve it. If you receive more than 3, you know you're really beautiful! If you break the chain, nothing will happen, but it's always good to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out!

Philippians 4:13 Scripture Poem

I have strength for all things
Through Christ who empowers me
I'm ready for anything that comes my way,
Even what I may not foresee
For it is Christ who infuses me,
Strengthening me in His might
And I am sufficient in His sufficiency
With the power of Christ inside.

Thank you for the goodie and prayers for my sister. Yesterday I did not have to scrub for 20 mins. & put on a sterile outfit before I visited her. Also, her fever has finally broke. Would you believe her doctor did not give her a blood test after he removed her cancer. If he did, he would had known that when we removed her bowel, it caused bacteria to spill inside of her. Long story short, no test done resulted in an infection that threatened her life. She still is not out of the woods.

Gardening has taught me a lot. One thing for sure is, that I need to be patient and gentle caring for all living things. And, if I neglect caring for them, I will lose them. So today I pray that I will scatter patience and gentle love on all living things around me.
