I was a chunky child, slightly overweight in my teens, but lost it all AFTER I had my children! I stayed slim for over 20 years. Then middle age crept in and settled in places I never thought it would...I'm on a quest for a healthier, better version of me for this particular time in my life.

My Goals:
It seems I'm always starting over! I have more determination this time around. I know I must exercise, drink all my water, and watch my food intake better. Four years ago I became a grandmother---of a boy by marriage one night and twins born the next morning! --- and I need to be the best me that I can! My children have added 2 more little ones since then, with another baby girl due in October. I can't be of great use to others if I don't take good care of myself.

My Program:
Having recently moved to a new home (to me!) in an over 55 community, I have a variety of exercise classes and 2 fitness rooms at my disposal...all that I need to be the best me I can be. I am enjoying Line Dancing and water aerobics, as well as walking with neighbors. Portion control needs to be a big part of my plan! I will go back to drinking water like I used to. I know what to do, I just need to rededicate myself to doing it! I've recently started a Zumba class and enjoy water aerobics several times a week. I've started being a Loser because of determination!

Personal Information:
I recently retired from teaching 1st grade at a small private school. I followed that retirement with a 2 year stint at my church's Mother's Day Out as Story Lady. I am fully retired now. My husband of almost 38 years passed away right after Christmas in 2010 and I'm learning to be a new 'me' and to find a 'new normal,' as one friend keeps reminding me. I have so many wonderful friends, Spark Sisters and a great family. My journey for better health all around begins every day.

There was a motivational quote from Pope John Paul II here at SP. It's just what I need for my own motivation: "Consult
not your fears, but your hopes and dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you have tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do." I will look ahead to better health and better life experiences.

Other Information:
I love to read---you'll usually find me with a book in my hand! I am years behind in my scrapbooking but I still try...and I love making greeting cards. I need to get a grip on cleaning my house...but these other things always beckon...

Thanks, Mary! I am home!!! The children were dismissed at 1 and with Dave's help, we finished at 4! I just got filled-up during opening with the children, while singing our calendar songs but I held it together and told the children that I would be back to visit them at school. When going to the buses, 3 of my retired friends who were at school for our 6th grade graduation starting cheering for me...so I started doing a happy dance...laughing here! It feels good!!! Thanks so much for your goodie too...I saw it this morning before leaving for work and it meant a lot to me. When I was leaving at 4, the three 2nd grade teachers were still there and they came out in the hall and clapped for me. One of them said, "Now, when you are sick, Lynne, you can be sick without worrying about lesson plans." Yes!!!!! Enjoy, Mary!!! emoticon

School is done where I work as a secretary. I AM SO HAPPY!!!!! The teachers have 3 days to clean up their stuff. There is going to be a restructuring of the buildings here and some staff will be furloughed. I am hoping I make the cut and have a job next year. I work year round, so not too much summer fun for me, but there is always the weekends and I plan on taking some vacation days.

    Anatomy of a True Friend

Will always see you for the way you really are, your true self.

Will always have them open to listen.

To always tell you the truth and give their opinions, tell you when you mess up or do something good.

Will offer when you need one to cry on and will be your strength when you find it hard to carry yourself. Will always let you lean on them.

To love you for who you are and not judge. Will always have a place there for you.

To hold yours when you need a little guidance, to lend when you need help, and to help you up when you may fall.

Will always make you feel comfortable in them and to offer hugs when you need one. Will try to warm when you are cold.

To walk with you throughout your life and be the best friend they can be.
