I was a chunky child, slightly overweight in my teens, but lost it all AFTER I had my children! I stayed slim for over 20 years. Then middle age crept in and settled in places I never thought it would...I'm on a quest for a healthier, better version of me for this particular time in my life.

My Goals:
It seems I'm always starting over! I have more determination this time around. I know I must exercise, drink all my water, and watch my food intake better. Four years ago I became a grandmother---of a boy by marriage one night and twins born the next morning! --- and I need to be the best me that I can! My children have added 2 more little ones since then, with another baby girl due in October. I can't be of great use to others if I don't take good care of myself.



My Program:
Having recently moved to a new home (to me!) in an over 55 community, I have a variety of exercise classes and 2 fitness rooms at my disposal...all that I need to be the best me I can be. I am enjoying Line Dancing and water aerobics, as well as walking with neighbors. Portion control needs to be a big part of my plan! I will go back to drinking water like I used to. I know what to do, I just need to rededicate myself to doing it! I've recently started a Zumba class and enjoy water aerobics several times a week. I've started being a Loser because of determination!






Personal Information:
I recently retired from teaching 1st grade at a small private school. I followed that retirement with a 2 year stint at my church's Mother's Day Out as Story Lady. I am fully retired now. My husband of almost 38 years passed away right after Christmas in 2010 and I'm learning to be a new 'me' and to find a 'new normal,' as one friend keeps reminding me. I have so many wonderful friends, Spark Sisters and a great family. My journey for better health all around begins every day.


There was a motivational quote from Pope John Paul II here at SP. It's just what I need for my own motivation: "Consult
not your fears, but your hopes and dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you have tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do." I will look ahead to better health and better life experiences.


Other Information:
I love to read---you'll usually find me with a book in my hand! I am years behind in my scrapbooking but I still try...and I love making greeting cards. I need to get a grip on cleaning my house...but these other things always beckon...
