No More Excuses

This past summer, I started this weight loss journey again. Curiously, I haven't felt like I was on a "diet." This time, it's more of a realization that I haven't been treating my health as the gift it truly is. Now, I stop and think before reaching for every brownie, rib, hamburger, or fry. I ask myself, "Is this something that I really need? Should one, two, three, etc. moments of taste be more valuable than a long healthy life?" I think not!! I'm no longer just dieting to be skinny. I was just reading your comment about losing your tabby. My 13 year old orage tabby named Harley died last summer. When he was about 10, he developed diabetes, but I gave him shots twice a day and he did pretty well.

Then about a year 1/2 before he died, he got a sore on his tail that wouldn't heal. The vet removed his tail, and he recovered from the surgery but kept getting tumors.

He finally got to where he just couldn't get comfortable and wouldn't eat. I had to have him put to sleep, and I thought I'd die. He was the only cat I've ever had that ran to me when I called for him.

Purrsy is white with blue eyes, and Cat Boy is gray with green eyes - I love them, but I still miss my poor old Harley.

Hi! Want a Sparkfriend? If you add me, I'll add you. I just started too. I think we're trying to lose about the same amount of weight. I'm trying to walk 3 miles a day and watch carbs.

Just like you, I was "sparked" into losing weight when I saw a picture of myself - mine was from vacation. I started my losing weight adventure last Friday.

I teach 4th grade Language Arts, have 3 children, 2 cats, 1 guinea pig.

Before I hit 45, I could eat whatever, whenever, as much as I wanted without worrying about weight. In fact, whenever I got really stressed out, I would lose too much weight automatically. My activity level on weekends was get out of bed, get new book, read, repeat ... and it didn't matter, I was skinny.

Latest vacation pictures revealed, pudgy person with watermelon-sized waist-boobs ... nice hat, though.
