Welcome to my Spark Page and to winter, 2014! In July, 2013 I celebrated five years with Spark People. I originally lost 100 pounds, then experienced a slight set-back after a broken wrist. I am back on track with Spark People, and I hope to reach my goal weight again by Spring of 2014. Thanks to Spark People, my family and friends, and a few dedicated trainers, I have learned so much about a healthy lifestyle. I can't imagine trying to do this on my own.
Here is a summary of my journey...
New short-term goals for June, 2012
1. Stay within weight-loss calorie range of 1200 - 1500
2. Log in all food daily.
3. Drink 10 cups of water daily
4. Now that school is out, fitness 5 times a week!
Short-term goals met...
1. I reached the 150's -- GOAL MET on 1-6-10 !!
2. I reached the 140's -- GOAL MET on 2-16-10 !!
3. I reached the 130's -- GOAL MET on 3-23-10
4. I reached the 120's -- GOAL MET on 5-25-10
5. I moved from obese to overweight on the BMI scale -- GOAL MET on 3-27-09 !!
6. I moved into a "normal" BMI range on 2-16-10 with BMI = 24, woohoo!
7. Body Fat % in "FIT" category, 18.6, June 2, 2010
Long term goals:
1. Be at my original goal weight (147) by April, 2010.
(Goal met 2-16-10 when I weighed in at 144.5)
2. Be fit enough to hike the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim in June, 2010 with family and friends. Ooops! We were not granted a backcountry permit for this hike, so... next plan is...
3. Be fit enough to hike Half Dome in Yosemite with Bayside Adventure Sports in June, 2010. (See note above...)
4. Be at my goal weight and be fit enough to sky-dive with my son when he turns 21 in 2010.
5. Continue running/training to increase mileage and endurance in order to run a 10K, half-marathon, then marathon... 2010 or 2011. (Goal met May 1, 2010 with 1st Half-Marathon completed!)
6. Continue to train for my 1st full marathon in October 17, 2010 in San Francisco.
Every moment of my life is precious to me! Being DONE with this extra weight will help me live longer to enjoy my family and friends. I am grateful to Sparks and the awesome friends and teams I've met here. You ALL are helping me toward my goal, and I hope to return the support and encouragement right back at ya!

I AM SO EXCITED!! I REACHED THE 120's, May 25, 2010!!! My current weight is 127, and I am at my goal weight after losing 100 pounds!
My broader DONE goals...
DONE with thinking exercising is not fun... I find I love to challenge myself! I'm renewing my love of hiking, and before the snow melts away I'm going snowshoeing for the first time. Can't wait! (Goal met December 26, 2009 with one of my precious sisters and her family!)
DONE not eating breakfast, it starts my day right!
DONE thinking 'I can't"
DONE thinking exercise or going to the gym is not fun!
DONE with large-sized clothing... at long last!
DONE snacking late at night
DONE taking in more calories than I need when I'm tired
DONE consuming calories to compensate for a few unkind people in my life!

June 24, 2010 -- 128, one pound from my goal! It has taken me FOUR weeks to get this one pound off, and I'm never going to see it again! I have officially lost 99 pounds! This is SO worth every effort!
July 24, 2010 -- My 2 year Spark-versary! Yay! I am still a pound from my goal and working on this last pound. Thank you Spark People for helping me to get so close to my goal weight!
August 9, 2010 -- At goal weight! Woohoo! 127. I just kicked 100 pounds of fat to the curb, and they're staying there!
January 1, 2011 -- Maintaining and feeling HEALTHY!
Being in the 170s changed my BMI from "obese" to "overweight'... and it felt so good! DONE with obese forever!
On February 16, 2010 I reached a normal BMI range of 24 with a weight of 144.5. Woohoo!
My original goal was to reach 147 because that is exactly 80 pounds lost. Now that I have achieved that goal I will re-evaluate my goal weight, and possibly change it, based on how I feel. My next goal is to reach 127 as my goal weight and my 100 pound weight loss milestone..
Here's my plan:
1. Stay between 1200 - 1350 calories a day
2. At least 60 minutes cardio, 2-3 times each week in addition to 4-5 boot-camp workouts in the gym.
3. Burn 500-1000 calories more each day than I take in.
1. Stay within a calorie range of 1200 - 1350 for a few weeks so that I can get the last pound off and reach my goal weight.
2. At least 12 cups of water daily.
3. Running (training for a marathon in October, 2010) and boot-camp style workouts at my gym 4-5 days a week.
I am a native Californian. My husband and I were both born and raised in the Los Angeles area. We have been in Sacramento for the last 19 years and we love it. We are blessed with 6 awesome adult children, including 2 incredible sons-in-law, our beautiful daughter-in-law, and 3 amazing grandchildren.
I a currently teaching 3rd grade in Sacramento, CA. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, running, reading, gardening, cooking, and technology.
