Keeping a food journal is nothing new for me, I've been writing them -on and off- for the past ten years. I believed, even before it became fashionable, that there is some kind of connection between food and mood.

Keeping a food journal is nothing new for me, I've been writing them -on and off- for the past ten years. I believed, even before it became fashionable, that there is some kind of connection between food and mood.
In fact I journal just about everything, I love to write. I keep journals the way most people keep photographs, only I try to capture my pictures with words. I have found the times I have kept a food journal, were the times when I felt at my best, had more energy and felt more -for lack of a better word- connected.
The down-side of journaling is the time it takes to really be involved -before Sparks I would literally write down each and every calorie. My goals at that time were not so much to lose weight, but to see what I was putting into my body and the way I felt about it.. Keeping a journal has helped me in so many ways. Yet while in nursing school, and with two children ages 15 and 4, the only journal I kept was a "clinical" journal, to help me get through a very stressful experience.
I got through the experience and passed my State Boards of Nursing just this past November, but along with that accomplishment came some weight that I am not comfortable in. And now that I'm 41 (soon to be 42) the weight, much to dismay, I'm finding out isn't coming off as easily or as quickly as it once was.
So here I am, looking for support and looking to take my food journaling to a new level!
I am celebrating my first week anniversary here at Sparks today...and so far I am enjoying it! This is exactly what I was looking for ten years ago! Sure beats writer's cramp!!!
Hopefully I'll be posting some blogs soon, and you are more than welcome to check them out. Until then.....

To rid myself of the "junk in my Trunk" and tune up my internal engine.

My Program:
Lots of water
-tracking everything I eat
-Trying to incorporate more veggies into my diet
-A little wine every now and again
-And a lot of prayer

Personal Information:
-My name is Tammy, and I will be turning 42 on March 3rd, 2008. I am not looking for a "quick-fix" or I don't think I'm going through any mid-life kind of thing, I think I am like everyone else, always evolving, a work in progress, though the goals I have are pretty much the same as they have always been for the past twenty years, only the reasons behind them have changed.

Other Information:
I am a mother of a wonderful fifteen year old girl and a beautiful four year old little boy. -I love, as you know to journal, but what I love even more than that is reading the work of others, especially Dean R. Koontz, and Stephen King (There is so much more to Stephen King than just horror...what a wonderful human he is)
-I love the Brady Bunch! Have all five of their season (yes I am cheesy like that!!)

Hi, Tammy! Thanks so much for your comment many weeks back... and of course I remember you! How could I forget?! My head is mostly better, I think... we'll see what happens when I start Bootcamp this week. LOL! I was just hinking about you and I wanted you to know that...

May today be all you need it to be. May an all abiding peace fill your thoughts, rule in your dreams tonight, and conquer all your fears. May joy manifest itself today in ways you have never experienced. May your desires be fulfilled, your dreams be closer, and your cares be lifted. May your territory be enlarged and fulfillment just one step closer.

FOR NOW AND ALWAYS, MAY GOD ABUNDANTLY BLESS YOU, and those you love, in every way that you require. May he hold you gently in the palm of his hand in a very personal way, and may you rest in the fullness of his love, his grace, his strength, his wisdom, his rescue, his redemption, his healing, his inspiration, his restoration and his mercy as you require it! May you carry in your heart an extra special awareness of God's great love for you, may you grow into the gift of your life, and may you see his miracles all around you. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Amen!

"Happy Valentine's Day!"

The ship of your life may or may not be sailing on calm and amiable seas. The challenging days of your existence may or may not be bright and promising. Stormy or sunny days, glorious or lonely nights, maintain an attitude of gratitude... an attitude of LOVE. Love has no desire but to fulfill itself... and this begins with love of SELF. Love's desire is to melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. A woman in harmony with her spirit is like a river flowing. She goes where she will without pretence and arrives at her destination prepared to be herself and only herself. Self-love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away... make this day breathless as you drown yourself in the love that issues from YOU... for yourself, and for others. Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer, and wake at dawn with a winged heart, giving thanks for another day of loving.
- Adapted from the words of KAHLIL GIBRAN & MAYA ANGELOU -

MAY GOD ABUNDANTLY BLESS YOU, and those you love, in every way that you require. May he hold you gently in the palm of his hand in a very personal way, and may you rest in the fullness of his love, his grace, his strength, his wisdom, his rescue, his redemption, his healing, his inspiration, his restoration and his mercy as you require it! May you carry in your heart always an extra special awareness of God's great love for you, may you feel his sweet and gentle touch upon your life, and may you see his miracles all around you. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen!
