FIT BY FORTY

I am 39 years old, 1 son- a senior in college, 2 dogs I adore (was 3 had to put my best friend down 1-23-08) I am bipolar and just found this out after suffering from anxiety/depression for over 10 years, well really my whole life. This will be the hardest journey I have done if I can get through it. Starting over again! With your help and some prayers I'm hoping to get to my goal weight of 140-160 by my 40th and stay fit throughout my forties. Any and all friends are greatly appreciated!!!

My Goals:
I would like to be able to keep my dogs and myself healthy/fit by regular walks and healthy eating habits. I need to get rid of the night eating habit!

My Program:
Starting by doing something active everyday, even if its not a huge thing. Trying to keep positive and strong.

Personal Information:
I am so shy and trying to do this alone basically. Its hard for me to talk to others about my failures and successes. My family is far away we aren't very close. They dont understand bi-polar so its hard for them to relate to my life.

Other Information:
I love my dogs to death! Very spoiled and I wish I were healthlier and plan to be so we can have more outdoor fun together! I really need to find more energy and getting the weight off is a start. I've had two major knee surgeries for accidents on my left knee. It's hard to stay motivated, but it would help if I dropeed all the weight I gained.

Hi,
I searched on here about Bi-polar and found your page. How are you doing? I have been thinking maybe I have this myself. I am going to a psychiatrist sometime in the future, I have a referral. Good to see you are such an inspiration to others!

I was just diagnosed with Bipolar 2, also. I haven't really talked to anybody about it yet, so it's really nice to see that there are other people ot there! Thankyou!

Water aerobics might be a good way for you to gently get some exercise without stressing your knees so much. Also, it can be a nice social outing without any heavy "socializing" necessary if you are not up to it any particular day. You might find classes in a pool at a local university, school, YM(W)CA, private gym, or community recreational center.

I was able to rehabilitate a badly sprained ankle after high school without even realizing it because I just happened to get involved in doing water aerobics for a number of years. It was a pleasant surprise. The water is very calming.

Best wishes,
Sage
