January 26, 2012
I'm back, again. I joined originally in 2008; lost weight; lost interest; gained the weight back & now I'm back, 'cause I can't do it alone!
I am 56yr old women living in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan (Up with the U.P.!) Though, I love the seaons my area brings, the winters can be long & sometimes brutal. So, "snacking" has become a past time to chase the glums away...especially since I don't work outside the home. However, I make it a point to get out of the house at least once a day!
My short term goal is to loose about 2lbs a week & eat healthier. My long term goal is to get down to 135 to 145 lbs (60+lbs!). Best to focus on the short term, otherwise I could depress myself (SAD is part of my personality & the short days of winter sure don't help. But the longer days of summer are around the corner...even though the block is a long one, yet!)
I am also married. My husband is quite overweight, too. With me eating & cooking healthier, I'm hoping it will help to motivate him to lose weight.
I'm a proud mother of a 13yr. Yorkshire Terrier named Tazmania (Taz or Tazer, for short) & a Rottweiler/Pit Bull/Retriver mix named Roxanne (Roxie). Believe it or not (if you own a Yorkie, you know!), Tazer is in charge!
I own 3 goldfish (Meany, Meanier, & Yosemite) You can guess the 1st two's temperment from their names. I would like to get a Black Morr & a golden Koi, but the 2 meanies tend to pick on new fish! Yosemite stil has to battle with them.
I am currently a homemaker, working through the internet & ebay. If the right job opportunity appears, I might work outside the home. I am blessed that my husband has a good job & this is possible.
I love flower gardening, sewing, reading, playing games, listening to the radio AND COOKING & BAKING. Those two can be my demise!
Thanks for visiting my site. As soon as I load my pix's on this laptop, I will post them.
March 27, 2011...Hi Again!
I just rejoined SP. Tried to make a go of it on my own, but it really didn't work. When I started to gain weight back, I knew I need to come back!
Our Doggie Family has changed. Ruffles( the Rottweiler) passed away in 2009 & our dear Charlie Brown my Yorkie-Poo) passed away last year. We still have Tazmania (the Yorkie) who will be 12yr on May 5 & Roxie(a Pit Bull, Lab? mix), who will be 2yr on May 17.
April 2008....Hi All!
I'm the proud owner of a 6lb, 8yr old Yorkshire Terrier named Tazmania (Taz or Tazer), a 12lb, 9-10yr old, adopted Yorkie-Poo named Charlie Brown (Charles) and a 114lb, 5 yr old Rottweiler named Ruffles (Rufflie). Or maybe I should say they own me! At least they think they do.
I know it's a strange combo. We got Tazer when she was a year old. I'm partial to Yorkies. She is my 5th one. We had a 6yr, 75lb Chesapeake named Rudy at the time. My husband is partial to big dogs!
They got along great, played & slept together. Of course, Tazer was in charge! When Rudy passed away, Ruffles joined our family. And of course, Tazer was once again in charge - as she still is now!
Then 2 summers ago, we adopted Charlie Brown at the ripe old age of 8yr (maybe - they weren't sure). Anyways, his previous owners had to get rid of him due to their move. So, we rescued him as my birthday present & that's why we share the same day!

This past Aug., my mother passed away from complications of COPD & pancreatic cancer. I am happy she is no longer in pain, but I still miss her so much. Then in Sept. I had a total hysterectomy due to cancer. They got all of it & I don't have to endure chemo or radiation. What a blessing! However, I was about 30lbs overweight prior to the surgery. As a result of inactivity, complications of the surgery & just poor eating habits, I've gained an additional 20lbs. I just cannot stand the lack of energy, tiredness, sadness & the physical strain on my body any more.
I saw on the internet & TV info about SparkPeople. After further investigation, this program looks to be something I can work with & enjoy. I definite want & need to lose weight & start my journey to a healthier life.
