So 2010 is the beginning of a new decade as is the beginning to a new me. I hate making new year's resolutions because I never keep them hence being able to fail. But I'm going to start out fresh and new...again, like so many times before. It seems like I'm always "going to start my diet on Monday" for the last year. I will say though that I love food. I love cooking it and I love eating it. I've always been a fast food fanatic and junk food junkie. I've tried every diet imaginable but ...

By exercising and eating healthy. I've just got to find what works for me.

My Goals:
I have set specific goals when I lose so many pounds. Hopefully that will keep motivated and give me something to look forward to.
1. 185-Buy the pair of hight heel shoes I've had my eye on for the last couple of weeks
2. 180-Buy a new book
3. 175-Dinner and a movie with hubby
4. 170-Buy a new purse
5. 165-Buy a new outfit
6. 160-Get a pedicure
7. 155-Buy some jewelry
8. 150-Girl's night out
9. 145-Buy a new book
10.140-Buy new outfit
11.135-Weekend getaway with my hubby.

My Program:
I am dusting off my trusty Slim in 6 DVDs. I want to eat healthy and make smaller portions. I love to cook from my homemade 6 week body makeover cookbook. It's full of recipes that members have added to their website and all the recipes are salt free and use tons of fresh herbs and spices. I'm not necessarily following the program but I like the food.

Personal Information:
My name is Karla and I'm from Texas. I just turned 30 but feel much older because of my weight. I also have a facebook page if you would like to look me up there as well. I am married to a wonderful man for 5 years. We have a beautiful little girl named Clara Kate that turned 1 year old in December 09. I love to read Spark mail so send me a message. I love to have buddies!!

Other Information:
I love to read. I like the mystery or thriller books opposed to romance novels. And I'd rather read/collect a series. It always keeps looking forward to the next one. My favorite authors are Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown, Jan Burke, Particia Cornwell; the famous ones, you know? If you have any suggestions that you love, please pass them on to me. I'm always up for new novels.

Hey girl i was thinking about you today and thinking i need to write. It really is funny how in sync we really are with each other! I was also thinking the very same thing you were today about this diet thing. I'm just so tired of trying so hard and not seeing any results. It's probably all my fault but then i also feel my body is not cooperating either. It's so frustrating. I will still work out and try to eat healthy but I may give the scale a rest too. I would weigh myself everyday as well. I've been sooo... exhausted also this past week. Proably bc i have not been working out. I get that way sometimes. And i had 4 nights off bc of the "winter storm warning." I just don't have the energy to do anything. I was having some major issues with my new shoes i got for Christmas so I went and exchanged them Sat. They were killing my feet and i was having to cook a hot breakfat last week so by the time i got off work my feet hurt to much to work out. And since we are going through a transition at work and some people from the management company were here i did not want to use the work out room. Thomas did not go for a walk with me this weekend either. I am still planning on getting an elliptical for the house. We found some on Craigslist we are going to check on. I just don't want to spend a ton of money on one when i can get a barely used one for half the price.
So i am in the same boat as you. I just don't want to obsess about this anymore. It seems like dieting is always on my mind. Maybe if i just try to make good food choices and cut down portions like you say and do some exercise things will start to change. We will see what happens i guess. This could work and i will probably be a happier person! :P
I guess y'all came down already? We will catch you another time i guess. Feel free to come visit any time. Maybe one of these days i can drag Thomas up there. Take care and have a great week! I will talk to you later!

It's good to hear from you! I know you have been busy with Nick and his surgery. I hope he is healing up nicely. It's hard to eat right when you are out of town. I totally understand what you mean about wanting to kick yoursef for wasting a week. I was doing that last week. I at least lost 1 lb this past week so that's motivating. I weigh in every Mon.
No, we didn't do anything fun or exciting this weekend. I went for a walk at the arboretum on Sat. and then Thomas and dogs went with me on a walk Sunday in the park. (The dogs can't go in the arboretum side of the park.) I took my camera Sat. but only got about 5 pictures before the battery died! I was so upset but still got in a nice hour walk. I went to the lake at the back and just sat there for a little bit. Just to be peaceful for a moment. Have you seen Eat Pray Love? I love that movie. That movie and a little old couple i saw doing that once inspired me. Sometimes we just need to sit and be still for a little while. It was lovely. :) I'll just hope for nice weather this weekend and go back with my camera. I could have gotten some really cool shots too. Oh well.
I wish y'all lived closer too!!! I would love to meet up next time y'all come down. We are going to a Linkin Park concert Feb. 15th but any other day is clear. We could do dinner any night of the week. I just like to be back home around 6 or 7pm to take nap before work. Just let me know when y'all are coming down. I could cook if y'all wanted to stop by the house. Nick needs to see we don't live in the ghetto so he will want to stay with us in the future. :P
I've already messed up tonight at work. :( I had a couple of little danishes with my cup of coffee. The sweets at work are killing me!! I will just have to work extra hard on the elliptical in the morning. Hopefully i can do 45 minutes. I worked out today at home on the treadmill for 30 min then did 50 crunches and leg lifts and worked with my dumbbells. I am still sore from Sunday's workout. We watched that new show Heavy on A&E and it really made me want to work out harder. These two people from Houston went through this program to help them lose weight and it looked pretty cool. They went away for 30 days to "fat camp" kind of place. Except it was just the two of them. I would love to go to a place like that! Probably could not afford it and i have to work so we decided to do our own boot camp at home on Sunday. Thomas made me do 60 pushups! (girl pushups of course) Then I ran with the dogs on our walk and that makes me sore too. I jogged a little on the treadmill today as well. My goal is to lose 3 lbs this week for a total of 10 for the month. I really want this so i'm going to work super hard for it. You can do your goal too. And if not, just be proud that you tried. The first 5 lbs is the easiest to lose. Are you working out any? I know it must be difficult for you with Kate and Nick probably in a sling. Y'all could go for walks around the neighborhood after dinner though. On nice days that is. Bundle Kate up and put her in the stroller. I'm sure she would love that. And I'm sure Nick is just as good of a supporter as Thomas is so he probably does not mind going with you either. Even if it is only doable on the weekends that helps too. That is the only time Thomas can come with me. Well thanks for checking in with me. I hope this week is a good one. I just have to keep thinking about losing those 3 lbs by Monday. Wish me luck!!! I bet you can get your first 5 lbs off this week! Just stick with it girl! I want a good progress report next time we talk! emoticon

Hey girl how's it going? How did you do this weekend? Get any exercise in?
So it's a new week and i'm doing ok so far. Only 1 minor slip up tonight at work. But i think i am making progress. There was a plate of 5 choc. chip cookies and i only had 1. And it was the smallest. Plus, i finally got my rear end on the treadmill at home today. Thomas still did not go for a walk with me this weekend mostly bc it rained all wknd. And i was so looking forward to that walk in the park with the dogs. Maybe this weekend we can try again. Oh yeah, i did end up going for a 55 min. walk in the park by my work when i got off Fri. morning. I was about froze to death but i survived and loved it!
I weighed the same today as i did last Monday. So after all the bad stuff i ate last week, no gain is good. I still feel like i just wasted a whole week! I have a deadline so i better make the most of each day and week. I am eating tons more fruits and veggies though. And i got sherbert for my sweet treat at home. (Thomas ate most of it though. He kinda likes orange sherbert i guess.)
Well i hope you are doing good and have a good week! emoticon
