Don't want to be a yo-yo dieter

Motivating Quote: "My body is not a waste basket"

Summer of 2010 my weight sky rocketed to 162lb (my heaviest) and in the course of a year through SP I reached 139lbs by March 2011. For the first time in my life, I owned 4/6 sized clothes! Over one year since then, I've managed to gain back 10lbs primarily through no portion control.

Its 2012 now and I'm back to 150lbs but atleast I've maintained the healthy food choices. I still need to work on portion control and I believe if I master that, I'll be able to keep the weight off and stay at 130lb range for the rest of my days. I just can't stand to watch food being wasted so I always finish things on the plate.

I don't want to live my awesome 30s as a struggling overweight woman. I want to change my food habits for the better- drink more water, eat more veggies/fruits, only eat whole grain carbs. I want make better food decisions, choose optimal portion sizes while eating out and I want to do all of that consistently until it becomes my lifestyle instead of just a weight loss regiment

New strategy:
- Keep up the healthy food choices
- Drink 8 glasses of water
- Portion control by eating veggies first and resisting filling up my plate/ordering smaller portions.

Hey! Long time no talk! I've been avoiding SP due to feeling like a bit of a failure, but I'm facing up now ;) How are things going with the french fries? Have you tried making them at home? I LOVE slicing up sweet potatoes, drizzling some olive oil and sea salt and cayenne pepper on them, and baking for 45 minutes. YUM.

Hey, my fiance has lots of family in Vancouver. Do you live in the city? If so, do you have any recommendations about when to visit and where to stay? We definitely DON'T want to stay with his family :) Too much pressure. I've heard it's such an awesome city.

Hope you are doing well! I'd love to hear how things are going!

Congratulations on your long hike - that's great! And it looks like you're going to meet your November goal...

THANK YOU so much for your encouraging comment about the in-laws - it was just was I needed. I will most definitely carry your words with me on Friday. I wouldn't be "good enough" no matter what, and I sense that's true, lol! I laughed when I read the part about asking for recipes to cook for Amin, because they're so big on making sure I'm "taking care of" him :) Anyway, it was really nice to hear the wisdom of someone who understands the culture. I try my best to understand, but my family is just so different that it's difficult sometimes to not take things personally. Anyway, thanks!

Have a wonderful holiday week - hopefully you have something fun planned!

Hey there,
My minigoals are going well, actually! I have been drinking lots of water and have set my initial goal to lose 10 pounds. Since I have (gasp) 80 lbs. to lose, it feels pretty overwhelming sometimes! So 10 pounds is a good first step. This is the first week I've exercised 5x in one week, so I'm pretty pleased about that. One day at a time! How are things going for you this weekend?
