Last year was good, this year will be even better...

The winter of 2006 consisted of eating crazy amounts of food as a comfort to myself to deal with my father's illness; I looked bloated and felt like total crap. Thanks to some fantastic neighbor friends, I was able to lose about 15 pounds that summer of 2007 by eating little and drinking a LOT - tons of fun, but definitely NOT the best diet approach. :)

So after things quieted down, I decided to make a lifestyle change.

So after things quieted down, I decided to make a lifestyle change.

Last March, I started walking 3 miles a day at work, and walking or jogging 1-2 miles at home with my dogs. I kept this up consistently through the entire summer, and managed to lose 14 pounds. It was so weird to hear "wow you look great, you lost weight!" since weight has never been a huge problem for me, but instead it's been something that creeps up on me and before I know it, I've gained weight. It may not show up right away, but it eventually always rears its ugly head.

I was thrilled with my results last summer, and was proud of myself for sticking to something. This year, I'm going to watch my food intake more closely, and have set goals so I can lose about 20 pounds. I continue walking, but have also added a balance ball for strengthening and toning, as well as Jillian Michaels cardo 3x a week to my workout plan. I'm really excited!

My Goals:

Or read and write. NOT eat and drink.

My Program:
Walking 3 miles 4 days a week. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are cardio on the 30 day shred with toning exercises, Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays are ab/oblique-focused strengthening.

Congratulations on your success so far! I just started back at it yesterday, and was drawn to your page because we have almost exactly the same starting weight and goal. (I'm at 147 and eventually want to be at 120. First goal, 130).

Looks like you're doing the 30 day shred, which I'm not too familiar with. Would love to hear what your diet has been like, since it's been very successful. Cheers! emoticon

Yeah! I can't go tomorrow--gonna get back into town in the PM and then meet Steve so he and Kevin can fix mah brakes, and I'll be in Denver NEXT Friday... Egad, then it's the 4th of July weekend that next friday. But I'll be around--will you be in town on the 3rd? Maybe we can meet on that day and go walk for 90-120 minutes or something!
