Update 7/5/2017
A lot has changed since I joined sparkpeople in 2008 - I have gained and lost 100's of pounds. I am updating this as part because I am participating in the Summer 5% weight loss challenge as a member of the Cloverleaf Team! 2016-2017 has been quite a period of change for me! In 2015 my father passed away and that started many significant changes in my life. Biggest change was my brothers talked me into buying the family house and moving back to my hometown. So in June of 2016 - I packed up stuff and moved from a small town in the country back to my hometown of Davenport, Iowa. I lived thru remodel and dust up to my eyeballs but survived.

In October 2016 I was diagnosed with Diabetes. That really motivated my to change my life. I thought by being a dietitian I would be able to prevent diabetes diagnosis - but apparently you have to eat right, exercise and maintain a healthy weight....who knew (MEEEEEEE!!!) Well since that fateful day, i have joined the YMCA, have a personal trainer, have lost over 50#, cut my meds in half and NEVER BEEN HAPPIER!!!!! (knock on wood)

I am challenging myself in different ways almost daily. Gonna train to run a 5K again, doing the 1/4 mile swim portion of a triathlon, go kayaking! I cannot wait to see what's around the next corner.

Here I am - 45 years old, a registered dietitian and know exactly what I have to do to lose weight. Yet, I continue to fail at dieting and dream of the quick fixes that everyone else does! I think I need some support and help. I have been reading through this web-site and think that the support on this site will help me (especially in the evening when I dream about food).

I want to fit and healthy not skinny and beautiful (although that wouldn't be a bad benefit!) I need help changing my lifestyle to one based on health and away from food.

I record everything that i eat and all my exercise religiously in this application. That accountability is extremely valuable!!!!

I work out with a trainer 3 times per week - 1 day arms, 1 day legs and 1 day circuit (That day SUCKS!!!) Also do cardio on off trainer days including swimming, biking, walk/running.
