Hi! My name is Tamara. I'm 25 and I live in Minnesota with my husband and our two dogs (Capone-black lab & Montana-chocolate lab). I'm currently an ASU Online student studying for my BA in Psychology.

I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager, and I've spent years making excuses and not following through because it was easier to just be lazy than to do the work to take the weight off. I came across Spark People by accident, but I'm really glad I did! I am practically addicted to the site, I'm here every day reading blogs and articles and tracking my food and exercise. I've found that by recording everything I do and eat, I'm holding myself accountable and that helps keep me on track. In the past, I've tried to lose weight because I don't like being heavy and I want to look better. This time is different though; looking better is still something I want, but it's more of a happy side effect than a primary goal. I want to be healthier and more active; when I have children, I want to lead them with a good example, not teach them with a "Do as I say, not as I do" mentality. And sure, I want to be comfortable wearing a bathing suit in public :) Mostly I'm just sick to death of feeling chubby and lazy and I am doing something about it!

My Goals:
My ultimate weight loss goal is to get down to about 140. I have a ways to go, but I'm taking it one day at a time. I am also going to be in my brother's wedding next spring, and I don't want to be the chubby bridesmaid! I want to look pretty in their pictures :) The most important goal for me is to get healthy. I want to start having kids in a couple of years, and I want to set a good example for them (and be able to keep up!).

My Program:
I just started my 90 day Body by Vi Challenge, and by day two I have already lost 1.5 pounds! I am so excited to keep working with this great program. Two shakes a day, plus supplements and a Body by Vi Neuro energy drink keep me focused and ready to take on the world. I'm so excited!

Hi Tamara,

I am new to Sparkpeople and saw something you posted in the PCOS forum. It struck me as interesting as to how similar our health issues are. I felt a little bit better about my own situation after reading your post. Thank you for sharing your story.
