I've lost 25 pounds since the first of the year, but I have a long way to go before I hit my target goal. I hope by losing extra weight and changing my exercise habits that the "you may have to have another surgery in five years" can be extended to "in twenty to forty years." I've made good progress just by exercising more, but I have got to keep it up and modify my lifestyle as well if I am to be successful in the long term.

Well I have to tell you the worst thing about my spine surgery was the embarrassment of using a walker for 2 months! Heck, I told everyone that I felt like my own grandmother.....the only difference was that my grandma has a basket on the front! But just remember that you only have forward to go and not backward. It would be nice if they would even tell us ahead of these surgeries what our goals and restrictions will be. By the way, don't want to be discouraging but I still have problem bending to tie my right shoe.

Hi Talia, I just joined last Wednesday and it took me a while to find my way around the site. Like you I also had spine surgery. My surgeon is probably the very best in the area but he isn't big on sending his patients for therapy after the surgery. (Found this out when I had to go for therapy for something else) So after figuring out my limitations I have realized what my body can and cannot do.
Bought a bicycle the other day and cannot wait for the rain to end so I can start riding. And when the summer gets here I will start swimming. Have a great weekend and good luck....
