2014 - let's ROCK our goals!!!

Hi - my name is Shanna and this is my attempt at tracking how I'm 'taking my body back' ! Come along for the ride if you're so inclined! I am constantly looking for motivation and creating my own -putting as much positive out to the universe as I can -what you put out there is what multiplies and comes back to you.
My motto: "What you believe, you can achieve."

I constantly challenge myself in the gym - trying all sorts of classes and weight routines and putting in 1-2 hours ...

I constantly challenge myself in the gym - trying all sorts of classes and weight routines and putting in 1-2 hours most days after work, but my weakness has always been around 'food'. Nutrition -it really is 80% of the equation. I started out at 245lbs -then lost 75 lbs by kicking my ass in the gym over 3 years and putting a reasonable effort into healthy eating, but I relaxed a little too much and regained 25 lbs over 17 months. In October 2013 I decided to get busy with my promise to myself to figure out my nutrition, signed-up for a fitness and nutrition challenge with a body builder/personal trainer and took off 23 lbs and 21 inches in 77 days - lots and lots of hard work in the gym, preparing my food on Sunday for the upcoming week, not straying from my planned meals & snacks...even on all those eating occasions between Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas!!!!

My Goals:
My goals for 2014 are:
-to embrace change!
-to kick my ultimate goal weight in the face
-exercise a minimum of 60 minutes daily
-get back to a healthy BMI by losing the last 20 to 40 lbs
-Eat Clean as often as possible (keep my focus on my nutrition! )
-be open to new opportunities when looking for motivation and inspiration
-keep a food/exercise journal via my Spark page
-focus on my goals
-think positive and assume positive intent
-let go of perfectionism, negative thinking and self doubt
-be a cheerleader to others on this journey to health
-maintain my Fitness Instructor certification from the YMCA (last certified 20 years ago)
My long-term/loftier goals:
-learn to scuba dive and visit the Great Barrier Reef
-wear a 2 pc bikini again without running for cover :)


My Program:
2014 program is a mix of:
-universal/free weights varies per workout from personal trainer 3x week
-cardio 30 min 5x week
-fitness classes at the gym bodypump/ bodyflow/ cxworx -a few days a week



Personal Information:
I live in Ontario, married - no kids. My hobbies are varied as I like variety and move from one thing to the next to keep life interesting. I have taken Stained Glass courses, tried ceramic painting; tai chi; bellydancing; pilates; kick boxing; zumba; bootcamp; and my latest love, tennis -SO MUCH FUN! Who knew!?!? After a 20 year break (LOL) I'm instructing Step aerobics classes at the local YMCA. I enjoy anything creative. I've had my motorcycle license for 10 years now and traded in my 650 Yamaha V-Star for a Harley Softail Deluxe in Nov 2010 -in my first season on this new bike I logged 5000 miles during a trip to Thunder Bay Ontario!

HI thanks for asking how I am. This was a super busy tiring weekend. I volunteer/was asked to help dd. Her hubby was away so she wanted to do up their spare room into a guest /office room for him. So I painted an entire frame for a day bed with trundle 2 coats etc. then we tidyed up... her back is out and mine isnt great so now I am ready for bed and beat. Hubby will go with her to pick up the mattresses and then set that up and it will be done. Good surprise but man I really worked hard. Ate super poor but worked it off, just not happy with my unclean choices, but I acknowledge they were choices and I made them. Back to taking care in the am. right now BED!

HI I like your attitude so thought I would friend you so I don't lose you in the crowd of sparkers. I am from NS, we used to have a motorcycle but sold it as we hadn't used it in while due to be not being able to get on cos of bad back, knees and hips.
But I just like the attitude that you wrote about in your first blog and I too know that I put up a lot of those walls, self imposed.
So thanks and continued success!!
