Hi - my name is Shanna and this is my attempt at tracking my journey of 'taking my body back' !

My weakness has always been around 'food'. Nutrition -it really is 80% of the equation. I started out at 245lbs -then lost 75 lbs by kicking my ass in the gym over 3 years and putting a reasonable effort into healthy eating, but I relaxed a little too much and regained 25 lbs over 17 months. In October 2013 I decided to get busy with my promise to myself to figure out my nutrition, signed-up for a fitness and nutrition challenge with a body builder/personal trainer and took off 23 lbs and 21 inches in 77 days - lots and lots of hard work in the gym, preparing my food on Sunday for the upcoming week, not straying from my planned meals & snacks...even on all those eating occasions between Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas!!!!

Flashforward to Jan 1 2015 and I find that I have become distracted. Say hello to 30 lbs I thought were gone forever last year. It's true what they say about being 'a work in progress'. There are no short cuts, no magic pills, no overnight successes, it's simply trying to stay focused on my goals by making smarter choices every single day. I've caught myself. It's game -on once again, figuring out what works for me -without the 2 hour daily gym visit to make up for the nutrition blunders. I need to find balance, need to learn how to relax. Time to close doors that need closing, and dump the things that no longer work for me.

And so it's December 18th and 2015 has come and is almost gone - and I'm at the same point I was in January 2015. It's been a rough year with lots of stress, modifying to nurse the achilles tendon bursitis injury (no more group power teaching at the YMCA), eating whatever and not really having a plan, blah blah blah.

Dec 21 2016 - It has been a really difficult year. Work overload has lead to stress related anxiety issues and has really thrown me for a loop. It's been 368 days since I've logged onto SparkPeople. It's time for self-care and to refocus on the things that matter - health and happiness - I just need to figure out the 'what' and 'how'. I'm back to tracking and am hopeful that I can find my happy place again.

My Goals:
My goals moving into 2017 are to find my happy place again by:
-learning how to find balance and manage stress/anxiety better
-put the focus back on my nutrition -clean eating really is key!
-get back to tracking (either online or in a journal)


My Program:
A work in progress. Daily walks with my rescue dog (a golden retriever/collie/chow mix), group bootcamp 3 times per week and weight training workouts a two times per week.Still limiting cardio due to a foot injury.
