Delight yourself in the Lord

Time to update this. In 2010. I lost over 85 pounds with Sparkpeople. 2011 started successfully, but soon went downhill. Time to update this. In 2010. I lost over 85 pounds with Sparkpeople. 2011 started successfully, but soon went downhill. When my husband (at the time) announced to me and the kids he had a girlfriend, it was time to get a divorce. I never wanted a divorce. The divorce processes and recovery period hit me hard. It felt like so much of me was dying. Not to mention the difficulties of going for a stay-at-home, homeschool mom for almost twenty years to trying to find work and balance life with the kids and schooling. Every day was a struggle--emotionally, financially, physically...and even sometimes spiritually.

I still struggle every day with all of the above, but the grieving process is over and the healing from the divorce is complete. I feel like I am able to give this Spark life a real shot again.

Time for another update. 2011 was a rough year, but that's ok...it's over now and time to refocus. 2012 is a year to put God first and to begin to take steps of faith into this new life I now have.

I am officially divorced. No, I'm not proud of being divorced. I never thought it would happen to me and my ex. We really loved each (still do, only in a different way.) With that being said this year is certainly a year of new beginnings! That's why I'm starting a new with Sparkpeople. I never gave up in 2011, I just didn't have the strength to fight sometimes.

Now, it's time to focus on God and what He thinks about me...I am a princess! It's time to be all that He created me to be! It's time for me to shine with His life.

Ok, it's time to update my page. I haven't been active on Sparkpeople for several months. This year has been a very rough one for me. Weight issues became secondary and I lost my focus and whatever was my motivation.

Today (8/31/11) I am starting new! I have reevaluated my goals, reset my weight ticker (to reflect the 20 pounds I gained...wow gaining sure is easy), and I am going to start with the quick start again.

I feel like I am ready for the healthier lifestyle journey to begin again. I'm nervous about not making it...but I know I won't if I don't try...so here I am.

2011 is my year! This is going to be a good year, and many good things are coming my way! To start it off, I've entered Onederland! I'm going to leave Obesity and become just "over weight." I'm going to reach my goal this year (God Willing). I'm believing every area of my life is going to improve!

Thank you Sparkpeople and all Sparkers for helping me change my life!

I feel like it's time for an update...to understand who I was when I began continue reading below the dotted line.

I have been active on Sparks for five months and it has been wonderful. I have lost almost fifty pounds and feel so much better. While my body still has it's issues with pain and limitations, I am able to do so much more than before. For instance, I just drove a 5,500 mile round trip journey to visit family and have a vacation. That is a huge thing. Before, anything I did that was repetitive--especially something using my arms--would make me so sore, weak, and even dizzy. I made that trip with only a fraction of the problems I would have had last year.

I have met some really encouraging people here on Sparks. This has helped me tremendously since I do not have any support system at home--well my kids try to encourage me the best they can.

During my time with Sparks I have been actively seeking God to restore the hope I once had. My new life motto is "Why worry, just worship." When we take our focus of ourselves and our problems and worship God instead, we are no longer in His way and He is free to do amazing things in our lives...even if they are not the things we want...they are more amazing!

I would strongly encourage even one to stick with the program. Use the nutrition tracker faithfully, it made all the difference to me. Start be increasing activity--even if is something as simple as lifting your legs up and down while watching t.v. Just move...start small and you will soon discover you can do more. Get involved on the forums. Meet great people who you can encourage and they will return the favor. Also, read everything you can here on sparkpeople, you will learn so much and it will help keep you motivated!

Hi! My name is Tracy. I am a stay-at-home mother of four. I have been homeschooling my kids for about 13 years. For about the past four years my life has seemed to be unraveling. I got to the point, not to long ago, that I felt almost all hope was gone--except that last thread that constantly reminded me the God is true and He does care about me.
Now I am struggling to build my faith--which is the most important--and lose weight. Other than the kids, I do not have anyone close to me. My husband and I are married in name only. He started backslidding about four or five years ago--hence my struggles to keep the faith, raise the kids in the Lord, and weight.
I also have a health issue--the symptoms suggest fibromyalgia--but we are on low income and no insurance so I keep struggling along doing my best.
My mom was visiting in Janurary and she told me about this web site. At first I shrugged it off. Recently, I decided to give it a try. I've always found counting calories has been the most effective way for me to lose weight. I decided to make this sparks page because I really need to find encouragement.

So how are you doing Tracy? Have you been trying to track?

Yes I have continued to spark all along but rarely blog. I stopped tracking for a bit also but always was here. My lowest weight from 208 was in Dec ay 158. Then my Mom got breast cancer in Dec. With all the runnning around , two surgeries, radiation 5 xwk for 6 wks I wasn't tracking all the time and not preparing healthy food but not eating healthy food eathier. Lots of cafeteria food at the hospital. My Dr put me on an anti depressant...plus I was going to physical therapy for an arm injury and in a sling for 9 months. I regained up to 175. I just started regularly tracking again and walking. I lost 2 lbs last week. On track to do the same this week. Maybe more. I was so close to my goal of 150 but the inactivity plus meds and no tracking messed me up but I'm really trying now. Now 2 weeks ago my Mom was diadnosed with lung cancer. I'm not going to let that happen to me again. I will pack a lunch for the hospital visits etc...

So glad to have you back.

Hi Tracy. Just checking in to see how you are doing. I saw a show yesterday about alligator and snake catchers in Floida and was thinking of you and the children. Hope things are going well? Are you enjoying the summer? Done anything fun? Still sparking? Would love to here from you? emoticon - Kristan

I am back after gaining some weight back and realizing I still need to track and weigh my food to continue to be successful. I too am trying to lose weight by May so perhaps we can encourage each other. We CAN DO IT!
